  • Sort of Newbie/Backslider/Repenter

    Hi Everbuddy,

I am Rebecca, I lost a slap happy amount of weight a few years ago on Atkins and I fell to the temptation of forbidden evils while gaining it all back and then some. I've got this scrawny kid at home and a team of doctors have urged me to let him eat whatever fattening treats he wants along with healthy meals (he has a chronic condition and when he gets sick there is nothing more to waste on his tiny body). Of course I will cook and serve anything that will help him, I just need to pass by them myself.

I've been back on Atkins for about three weeks and have lost 10.5 lbs so far. I'd like to lose 10-15 more and maintain that PERMENANTLY this time! It really hit me when we had a weigh in for a weigh loss challenge at work and I was 12 lbs over my highest pregnancy weight. I was at 146 this morning and want to be at least in the low 130's. A little weight shows fast on my birdbone frame. .

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Hi Rebecca! We're very glad to have you here!

You might want to check out the Exercise Challenges and Journal Chats. The Journal is a great venue to pour out your thoughts - very cathartic! The Exercise Challenges are just great for motivation and accountability.

      See you around the board!

Welcome. Glad you've made the committment to re-join and get in shape. You won't be sorry. Atkins works. We all have obstacles to face that could make our journey a bit harder...that is why it is essential to make a plan of action for success. My advice is to write down the things that you must over-come. Devise a plan that will work for you to keep you on your WOE. It is possible to make substitutions in your meal plan that will satisfy all members of your family...or you can add things to your meals that others eat. For instance, when I cook...I will cook the meat and salad with an acceptable vegetable fo me. Then, if the family wants bread with their meal, I'll have it too, but won't eat that. It becomes a habit after a while and you won't even think about those unacceptable foods.

Check out the recipes section to find substitutes that you can enjoy with your family. Best wishes. Keep us posted. Atkins works, you can do it.
