  • I am scared to fail

I have tried everything from Nutrisystem to diet pills. Nothing I do works, when it all comes down to it, I am at the heaviest I have ever been. My husband is deployed and we are going to see him in 2 weeks. I would like to jump start weight loss, but I am scared to fail. Please help me. Thanks, Michelle

    Hi Michelle,

Welcome to the board! I hope you find this place a warm and inviting one to come and find support and encouargement to keep going.

Sounds so exciting and relief (I'm sure) for you to be able to see your husband again in 2 weeks. I'm excited for you.

Do you have Dr. Atkins's 2002 version of his book? It's a must.

Please find yourself over to journal chats land. It's an amazing thing being able to share your journey on this way of eating.

This journey with eating the Atkins way is one that takes effort and time. I wish you all the success in your journey to taking care of you for you.

Feel free to pm me or any of the fine folks here on the board. We're here for you

Re: I am scared to fail

The first step is the hardest. ONce you get he book, read the stickies, and COMMIT to a clean induction and following the plan...you CAN'T fail. You can screw up, but the plan WORKS, and if you stick to it, you will succeed.

GL on your journey to better health!

Re: I am scared to fail

        Hi there mjlanham2!

Everyone is afraid of failing, but the way I see it is like the quote says, "It's better to have tried and failed, then to have never tried at all." But the cool thing is that Atkins works. Here on ADBB not only will you gain the knowledge and the know how to make it work, but you will find others that have succeed far and above their expectations. The best way not to fail, is to embrace this way of life full heartedly. You will find all the support and encouragement in the world on this site. I owe my success to ADBB and all the wonderful people here!

You can do it! Tell us more about yourself! What are your goals?
        Best Wishes!

Re: I am scared to fail

Welcome. We are all happy to have you join us. This program works. I also was afraid that it would be another fly-by-night diet that I would attempt and quit. The thing that made the difference this time around was the ADBB. I had people here to support me and encourage me along the way. For the first time, I wasn't doing this alone.

Read the Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution. Exercise. Drink lots of water and take supplements. Also, make a plan. Believe in yourself. If you are serious about losing the weight, then plan your food, exercise, and activities. If you are going to a party, vacation, meeting, dinner engagement...then it is essential that you PLAN what you will eat and do there. Do your homework and check out menus ahead of time. If the menu isn't on your plan...then it is up to you to decide what to do. Either take what you can eat or eat before you go. Remember...this is YOUR new way of life. You must educate yourself and do what you need to do to make it happen. After a while, it becomes a habit and you won't have to worry very much. But making your initial plans and learning to live on your new WOE is the most important step to making it happen.

IT WILL HAPPEN. YOU CAN DO IT. The best thing is we are all here to support you with advice, information and friendship. Best wishes. Keep us posted on your progress!!

Re: I am scared to fail

Hi, thanks for all your comments. I am 34 years old and weigh 220! I am so ashamed and mad at my self. I will start tomorrow when I get paid. I have 3 children ages 14, 12 and 3. I am a third grade teacher of 6 years. My husband is in Georgia and might go overseas for a year! We pray that he doesn't go, but it is in God's hands and not mine. I hate not being in control!!! I will let you know how my progress is, wish me luck.
