hi. This is my 5th day on the atkins induction and I just feel so weak and everytime I get up from sitting I am dizzy. Is this normal? and will it get better? Thanks!

    Re: help

It does get better. At the end of your 2 week Induction period you will see a big drop in weight and most of if not all of those ugly sugar withdrawl sysptoms will be gone.

    Hang in there.

I just went through it myself.

      Re: help

All of those symptoms are normal, no worries! Just hang in there and the symptoms will go away.

As for dizziness when standing up...mine didn't go away after induction. My doctor diagnosed me with low blood pressure and made me take an extra suppliment for sodium (above the multivitamin I was already taking) and make sure I put salt on every possible food I could. So, if it doesn't go away with the other symptoms you may want to get checked out just as a precaution.

        Re: help

Hi, another thing to remember is to drink your water. Dehydration can cause low blood pressure which can make you feel dizzy when you stand.

          Re: help

The Idution will cause a rapid flushing of your system which often takes a lot of electrolytes and water out at once. The problems of weakness and dizziness often appear because of this depletion. If you like, try for a few days sipping on a few cups of diluted bouillion. Be sure also to take multivitamin and mineral supplements. If you get the whole spectrum of electrolytes in balance it will be better than just increasing sodium.
You need potassium, Magnesium and calcium as well as trace elements, so try to choose nutrient dense foods.

Hey PinkBubbles! Welcome to the boards!

While some dizziness may be "normal," if this has been going on for more than 2-3 days, please see your doctor. Induction Flu usually shows up on Day 3 of Induction and lasts 1-2 days.

Definitely make sure you are drinking enough water, and eating enough! This is not a low calorie diet! Post a menu so the Mods can take a look at it for you.

            Big love!
