  • An excited newbie loses 20 lbs

Hi my name is Cindy, and I have been reading ADBB board for over a month now. Last Monday 6-12-06 I started this WOE, and I weighed today and have lost a total of 20 pounds. I am so excited. I do realize I am really heavy (was 300 and now 280lbs.) and I also know this was probably mostly water weight. I am excited because I can fit back into my jeans, not the skinny ones of course but at least its a pair of jeans. I was wearing only sweat pants for about 6 months now. I know this WOE works, I have tried it before but never stuck to it until I found this forum. I saw alot of before and after pics that made me think wow, I want that so bad, I want to be thin again. I have never been a big person and not being able to bend over or get out of bed has brought many tears. I want to live and even though I am alive being this heavy is just like being dead. I have to do something about this weight, and no matter what I try to do to lose weight everything I have tried is hard and hasnt worked as fast as this has. I am a true believer of the atkins WOE. I want to Thank everyone here. Your all an inspiration and have motivated me so much. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!!

    WOW!!!
You managed to lose 20 pounds in a week? Good for you!

Just what are you doing to trim it off like that?

I did induction for 2 1/2 weeks and only lost 12 pounds.

when I started this WOE I only ate meat, eggs, and a small amount of cheese, and drank alot of water. Be prepared for the bathroom.... But I feel alot better and can move alot better, I am still doing this and trust me after two days of eating only that you dont want to eat alot. Keep in mind that my appetite is now about gone, I have to force myself to eat. I know eating some meat three times a day makes me lose faster and drink alot of water.
        Thanks for the replies!!

Re: An excited newbie loses 20 lbs

Congratulations on losing 20lbs. Thats the most I've ever heard someone losing in a week! Well done

I am slightly concerned at ur food choices tho. You barely seem to have any carbs in ur diet, apart from cheese and eggs, which are minimal. Are you planning to introduce some veggies and salads in anytime soon?

I'm going to try that myself and see what happens. Just meat, eggs and a bit of cheese. Starting next week, I'll do it for one week and see if I can get a bit of a boost.
              Keep up the good work!

Hey guys, the 3 cups of vegetables per day are MANDATORY on the atkins plan. Trust me, the body NEEDS them. Welcome aboard...go to the induction forum and read all the stickies at the top of the list of topics.

I wasnt aware that I could have the veggies on the induction, but yes I will add them as well. I hope that dont slow down my weight loss though. I use to have the atkins book and for some reason I was under the impression that after the first two weeks you could add the vegetables. I will add them now though, trust me it sounds yummy.
                    Thanks for all the support!

Oh no, my dear! Veggies are all the rage on Induction! There is a fabulous little print-out, I think on the Main Forum, that shows all the foods you can eat on Induction!

Congratulations on the 20 pound loss. You are doing awesome!!

Yes, read the book and do the program exactly as Dr. Atkins suggests. You must have your veggies. Don't try to re-write the program to lose weight faster. You'll end up sick and feeling sluggish and not sticking to the WOE. Dr. Atkins knew what he was doing.

Your body will lose at the speed it is supposed to lose. Drink water, exercise, eat the appropriate amounts of protein, carbs and fat and take your supplements. This program works!!! You are doing great!!!

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.
