  • advice needed from atkins veterans!

hi everyone my name is gemma,
im not entirely new to atkins, ive tried low carb diets here and there infact id say for the lat year ive been on and off low carb diets, but for the most part on!
so my questions is, is there a sort of resistance that i may have built up doing low carb for so long that will prevent me from loosing weight durning induction?

ive not lost much weight doing low carb mostly cause i ate alot of nuts and cant really give up diet coke or chewing gum???

so today i started the atkins induction for real, i know these two weeks will be hard but im going to try my best to stick to it i know that if i get through induction ill be able to maintain the rest!!

    fingers crossed!

Welcome. If you follow the Atkins plan the way Dr. Atkins suggests, with a clean induction, it gets easier and you will lose the weight. Have you read the book? Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. He explains how the program works. It is easier to follow if you know what is happening.

Don't look at it as hard to do, but instead as a new way of life that is going to help you achieve your goal and be healthier. Its a matter of attitude about the new WOE.

Make a plan to succeed. Keep your measurements, thoughts, weight in a journal so that you have motivation to keep going. You can do this.

I wondered about that resistance thing too but I know that when I do what I am supposed to the weight comes off its just sticking too it.

yeah ive read the book but it doesnt really speak about people who have been on low carb diets before starting induction, none the less day 2 now so far so good, i have an annoying taste in my mouth but thats about all for now, oh and is mustard and vinegar are they allowed??

low carb isn't Atkins remember that. Atkins is about using the fatty acid burning energy cycle as oiur primary energy system. low carb low fat is about using the sugar cycle as the energy system cause the high porotein is converted to sugar.

your resistance is a misnomer folk who yp-yo lose lean body tissue and fat and then balloon back up with more fat but not a proportioned anoutn of lean body mass to the new fat ponds cause it was a rapid overeasting storeage of fat. then when those folk lose again they have more fat this time less lean tissue and a slightly slower metabolpsm. keep doing that and all thoise slightly slowers add up to a big slower metabolism.

Now to the good part eating Atkins style with our high fat 65% of the cals from fats slightly higher proteins 30% from protein and low carb along with the mandatory exericse will cause you to burn body fat for energy as long as you don't over eat AND force your body to growm new muscle tissue which will increase your metabolism and eventually correct this slow dawn y0-y9ing caused.

Since you have the book and have read it refer ofthen to chapter 11 acceptable foods lists while doing induction so you know what is and isn't allowed like it depends on the ingredients in the mustard and the type of vinegar for being acceptabel or not. we do have those lists handy in a wallet sized printout or a full size page in the induction and FAQ forums for those new to Atkins folk not yet possesing DANDR.

          Happy low carbing
