  • So happy Atkins is working again!

My name is Kimberly and I am a 36 year old, married mother of four. This is my second time going on Atkins. The first time was two years ago when I lost 35 or so pounds.
Well, life has a funny way of throwing things at you when you feel totally invincible! Some changes happened in my life that triggered my emotional eating again and whammo, I gained it all back! No more cute clothes, no more feeling like a ball of energy, gone....just like that! Welome Back to "Frumpsville!"
I finally got help in dealing with my issues in a healthy way and now am ready to be healthy on the outside as well.
I began my Atkins journey on June 19,2006. I weighed 186 and am 6'7.Today is July 1, 2006 and I weigh 175ish. Pretty much in between 175 and 176,but I did just eat a cheese stick and drink Crystal Light.
Anyway, I am the only person I know who is "doing Atkins" right now and I would love to get to know others who are on the same journey.

Hey New Life! Welcome to the ADBB! So glad you found us. I'm also on my 2nd time around on Atkins. The first time I lost 70 pounds! BUT I gained it back, plus some. I'm back at this WOE trying to get control of my weight and my health. You'll find lots of support and encouragement around here. Check out the Journal Chats forum. It's a great way to get to know people and stay in touch. Happy Losing! Oh and congrats on your weight loss so far! That's awesome!

Oh my! Please forgive my mistake in stating that this time my starting weight was 206 and now I am at 176 after just about two weeks! Did I mention that I am a "Bamble-Brain?" hEE HEE. That was my beginning weight last time. On June 19,2006, i WEIGHED 186 and now on July 1,2006, I am 176. So sorry for the misunderstanding. When I got online today and looked at what people wrote about it being amazing that I lost 30 pounds in 11 days I went to my husband in and got him to do the math, because I thought I was nuts. After I re-read my intro. I fixed my mistake. Thanks for responding even though I sounded like a liar! Kimberly

That's not too much to weigh for someone who is six foot seven!

Welcome. I'm confused at the height too. Are you 5'7" instead of 6'7"? Anyways, welcome - we are glad to have you join us. Congratulations on the weight loss so far!!

Re: So happy Atkins is working again!

                          Hello everyone,
I leave for vacation on Saturday and I am already nervous about falling off the wagon! On the one hand I keep thinking" Sure, I can eat French Toast w/powered sugar and maple syrup with a side of bacon at Cracker Barrell, while I'm on vacation and then get right back on track when I get home"! But there is another part of me that says I have no control ,if I put that in my body I will go back to being a sugar-addict again. If I eat something with a good amount of sugar in it, all day my body longs for more. It is so sick! I have a physical reaction to sugar just like a drug-addict does to drugs. Am I the only one that deals with this?

Re: So happy Atkins is working again!

Your first sentence says it all. You know you are going somewhere and you fear that you will face temptations!! That is why it is so critical for all of us to PLAN what we will do. Take back-up snacks and call ahead to see where you can eat and what they offer. DO NOT USE THIS VACATION AS AN EXCUSE to go off your new WOE. Remember this is a life-style change. We all need to get into new habits that will help us stay healthy and fit the rest of our lives, not just till we meet our goals.

You have three days to PLAN how to succeed on vacation!! Please don't go unprepared -- you've already lost weight, don't take the risk of gaining it back. The only way to conquer temptations is to have a plan laid out on alternative actions instead of giving in. YOU CAN DO IT!!!
