Help !!! WHy am I not Loosing ANYTHING?

  • Help !!! WHy am I not Loosing ANYTHING?

    Ok I am super-frustrated !!!!

    I went back to my hand written journal where I put what I had been eating and OHHHHHHHHh NOOOOoo Tomorrow will be exactly 1 week that i have been on induction and I just went on my scale today and NOTHING !!!!!

    I have not lost any pounds OR inches and I am super super Dissapointed.

    I have been eating only what is on the induction list , (for two days I had like 2 oz more cheese than i was supposed to , but i was still within my allowed carbs)

    im drinking 3 liters of only water a day and Im not dissapointed i havent LOST anything in the first week.

    I was always wondering if atkins might not work for some people. I mean You are taking in MORE calories.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I dunno Im just so upset because I really have been disciplined.

    HELP WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? AND PLEASE BE HONEST, IF YOU HEARD THAT IT DOESNT WORK FOR EVERYONE OR IF THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT I WONT BE ABLE TO LOOSE WEIGHT ON ATKINS ,

    I RATHER HAVE U TELL ME NOW SO I CAN GO BACK ON A LOW CALORIE JUST FRUITS AND PROTEIN DIET ...

    How about sharing with us what you have eaten?
    Also your stats? Age, height, starting weight, etc?
    Maybe then we can help you more.

      Awwwww Thank you Barb for answering ... i was getting so frustrated

      Ok here it goes :

      CW : 186 lbs
      GW: 146 lbs
      Age : 23
      Height: 5'4
      Bust: 44
      Waist: 34
      Hips :45

      AS to what i have been eating , Only things that are on the list and i kept the 2 -3 cups of veggies , like mushrooms sauteed in butter and lettuce and broccoli

      I have been eating salmon , mahi mahi , shrimp, chicken , and even a steak all sauteed in butter and olve oil.

      i made some hollandaise sauce and also my 4 oz of provolone , swiss, goat cheese and feta.

      for two days in the begiining i had 6 or 7 oz of cheese but i stopped that.

      And i have been drinking like 3 liters of water ..

      HELP !!!! what am i doing wrong ? can it be that My body is not accepting the diet ?

      Ohhh also , i havent really been that hungry so my calories have been only around 1000 calories daily , even though i do eat 4 times a day !!!!

        Hmmm, well, what are you doing for your mandatory exercise?
        The foods seem ok. Are you spreading the veggies out over the whole day?

          Also, the boards are usually very quiet on the weekends, especially with a holiday coming up. I'm sure it will get better for you once the work week begins again. Hang in there.

            Well yeah I usually wake up around noon and then i incorporate them in my "breakfast" and satuee then with my fish or chicken.

            then i have some around 3 and usually around 7 ... after that i just snack on cheese or chicken or something like that.

            as for exercise, well I dont really. i mean I am so busy running around town all day that i count that as exercise. I do however do some sit ups and exercises for my butt and arms for about 30 minutes a day.

            and i go to the sauna 3 times a week which is supposed to burn calories.

            But what mandatory excersises are u talking about ? Please inform me because i did not know there is such a thing. I mean i know everyone is to work out and all , but i didnt know it was mandatory during induction on atkins to loose weight.

            I lost about 7 lbs in 2 weeks when i did my low calorie only fruits and protein diet and i did not have to exercise at all.

            what do u think ? should i try it for another couple days and if i dont see any loss let it go ?

            or have u heard about people not loosing during induction? ( which i hougt was supposed to give u the most weigh loss)

            ohh and ur pics look great by the way good job :0

              One reason for not losing is stress from not losing. I would - -
              1) measure myself, chest, waist, hips, thighs and upper arms
              2) I would stay off the scales for at least a full week.
              3) I would do some sort of relaxation every day.
              4) Gotta exercise. Its part of the plan.
              5) Make sure you eat regularly, if you get up at noon, make sure you still do three meals and a snack
              6) No low carb junk food.
              Start a journal.

                This is the same message I wrote to another board member.

                Welcome to the boards! The best advice that I can give is... seriously give Atkins a chance. After the first month or so, you will notice a rapid weight loss. This rapid loss might not be trackable daily. It can creep up on you. That was my motivation to stick with Atkins. Every time I attempted Atkins before, I cheated or gave up too soon. Oh yeah....don't be discouraged if you get stuck at a certain weight for a while. My weight loss tends to get hung at a weight for a week, and then in one day, I might lose 3 lbs. Don't be discouraged.

                  Some might tell you that my exercise is a little exteme. Some people might say I might be at risk for burning muscle, because of such long exercise periods. Some might congratulate me.

                  I exercise 2 hours a day, 5 to 7 days a week. I also weight train every two days for 20-30 minutes. I have lost 45 lbs in little over three months.

                    don't give up...
                    the only advice I can give you: check your cheese and try to see if it's keeping you from losing weight. sometimes it happened for some people.
                    beside that exercise is mandatory because that's what Dr. Atkins said in his book.
                    btw: do you have the book? New Diet Revolution 2002? That's the one we follow here and so far I'm glad I'm doing it!

                      Awwww thank you ALl so much for your replies I have not cheated yet and

                      I told my self to hang in there and after hearing what ECLIPSE said , well I am giving myself a month and going into extended induction even. And Congratulation on ALL THAT weight loss eclipse that is awesome !!!


                      Deserthorn , thanks for your kind words, I only weigh myself once a week and i did take my measure ments I just have to figure out HOW to put them in my signature

                      Roshen - haha i reduced my cheese to 3 -4 oz just like you said I mean truth is that only on two days i had more than allowed. But that was because i had the old version of the atkins laying around and in that one the cheese is unlimited ???
                      I did buy the new version and read thru it , i just have to find it ...its gotta be here somewhere !!! haha

                      OHHH guys i DO HAVE ONE MORE QUESTION :

                      I find my self not too hungry and i noticed that my daily calorie intake is aroun 800 to 1000 calories only.

                      I DO FULLFILL THE RATIO REQUIREMENTS AND KEEP MY FAT in the upper 60's or even 70's .

                      AND I EAT AT LEAST 4 TIMES A DAY WITH PLENTY WATER AND SUPPPLEMENTS .

                      i was wondering if that has anything to do with it maybe ?

                            Okay, looks like your doing everything, so its just time to call on the Whooshie Fairy.
                            The problem with that is, some one gets her and then won't let her go. We'll just need to search the board and see who is holding the Whooshie captive.

                              If I were you, I'd cut back on the cheese even more. You may even want to cut it out completely for a week and see what happens. If that isn't possible, try cutting back to 1-2 oz instead of 3-4 oz. Good luck!
