  • Hi Everybody

    Let me introduce myself.

I am from Brazil and I've been on Atkins during 2 months.

Currently I'm ongoing phase 2: OWL. I've been reading a lot lately and I thought it was time to introduce myself to you all. I tried the Atkins board in Spanish, but my English comprehension is better. Silly uh!

No too much weight to lose, in fact I lost almost lost all my weight during induction (10 pounds? = 5 Kgs)

Up until today all my questions have been answered in your threads, I think the powerful tool "search" is very useful before taking anyone's time to answer the same doubts. But be sure I will ask, as I'm having doubts already.

I've gained weight during the last week in OWL, but I also changed my exercise routine and I added non-sugar chocolate (non-diet, no fructuose added). I will go back on my food scale. This is to what I was eating before last week: more veggies and almonds (diaries are out of my diet). Last week I added strawberries 3 times per week, but also this delicious chocolate.

Well, I hope to get improvements with this "experiment" and to find out the cause of this gain, which is the goal on OWL.

Nice meeting you all, hope to keep in touch.

    Marciane.

    Re: Hi Everybody

Hi Herewego, keep track of your carbs, maybe you can find where the weight is coming from. Also, weight fluctuates throughout the day and week. For example I weigh less at 10:00 am than I do at 5:00 am for some reason. Also, I am a cronic weigher, I weigh myself daily. Bad idea, I am now only weighing myself once a week. When I would weigh myself daily I would get depressed if my weight went up. Keep up the good work....Dawn

      Re: Hi Everybody

      Welcome to the boards Herewego!

Keep a close eye on everything you're eating and you shouldn't have a problem finding the cause of the problem. Of course a new exercise routine is a common cause of weight gain and could easily be the culprit now...but it will go away...never fear!

If you need anything just give a shout!

        Re: Hi Everybody

Have you followed the OWL phases of Atkins? If you are in doubt, go to the Atkins Diet Bulletin Board > Atkins Phases > Atkins Diet Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) and Pre-Maintenance. There you will see a thread on the OWL Ladder.

These phases are designed to help you learn what you can add to your woe without gaining weight. Make sure you continue to drink plenty of water.

Be sure to measure your protein and fat content
Only increase your carbohydrate by 5 grams
The ladder will show you what order to incorporate new foods
Add one new food group at a time
Discontinue eating foods that cause you to gain weight. Its okay to skip a rung if you gain weight or are allergic to the foods in that rung.

Don't give up. Keep checking what you eat and your exercise routine till you find the reason. As we get closer to our goals the weight loss does slow down. Whatever you do, don't give up.
        Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.
