  • Changing My WOE...

Hello! My name is Ralynda and I'm starting Induction tomorrow 7/7/06. I'm really excited. I'm currently rereading DANDR and I've been lurking for several weeks absorbing all the information I can. I've "done" Atkins a few years ago but it was never a clean induction and I know I failed because I always saw it as a "diet", but now I'm seeing it as a lifestyle change. I'm ready to get started and allow myself to feel better.

I'm not sure about my starting weight as I'll weigh and measure in the morning, but it's somewhere around 265. I'm 5'5" and 29 years old.

I'm waiting to start until tomorrow because I didn't want the temptation of the July 4th holiday to derail me and since we camped last weekend, I didn't want to have to deal with kicking things off with being away from home, it'll be much easier since I'm home.

I do have a question though - I know that it is recommended that we journal our food using fitday or some other means. That's great for me since I purchased FitDay PC a few months ago. My question is how does one enter the salad veggies? Do you measure each one separately and add them separately or create a custom entry and measure each item you put into your salad and figure out how many servings it is and then measure from there? I really want to do Induction right and follow the book, but I'm confused on that one thing. Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks and I'm looking forward to posting more and getting all the support that I've read on here!

Hey Ralynda, welcome to ADBB! I use the web version of fitday, and I put everything in separately. So, I'll put in 1 c lettuce, 3 cherry tomatoes, 4 slices cucumber, 1 oz cheese, 2 tbspn dressing, etc.

I'm so glad to hear that you're reading DANDR and have a plan. You can do this!

            Hey girlie!

Just popped in to tell you that I liked your new picture!! It turned out nice!

I just realize we were on the same day in the cheat-free challenge...kinda cool. You're my button buddy since our buttons are the same! (It cracks me up because it seems like they are growing!! But, I look forward to changing them everyday and it helps keep me motivated.)

              Hey girlie!

What did you think of the dairy rung?

I see you are now on nuts...hope you are enjoying them!

I have some peanuts with me today to snack on. I recently read an article that said that peanuts were as good as having olive oil. So, I'm thrilled that it not only tastes good, but is so good for you!!

Hope you are having a good day!

                Hey Kat!

I really liked the dairy rung. I missed having milk with breakfast. It was so nice to get that again. I really didn't try anything different than milk. I had cottage cheese one day, but never ate anymore. And I could only find one kind of ice cream that I wanted, but it was really good.

I need to start a journal...

Yes! Please start a journal! It was hard to find somewhere to post to you.

What type of milk are you drinking? I'm drinking the Calorie Countdown (formerly Carb Countdown) and it is pretty good. I sometimes put a sugar-free (w/Splenda) Choc Syrup in it to make chocolate milk. I make my own yogurt and was going to do that with it, but I haven't done it yet. I love homemade yogurt!

The only ice cream I found that doesn't make me feel bloaty, gain or crave is that Breyers Carb Smart. I'm happy with the small 1/2 cup serving.

Tonight I bought some almonds and other various nut mixes to try out this week. The only thing that concerns me are the ones with salt. But, I've heard that you can rinse them off to get the salt off and that will solve that problem.

Well, I hope you have a good evening...I'll keep my eyes out in case you decide to start a journal this week.
