  • I'm new :)

Hey everyone.. This is my third day on Atkins. And it's the first time for me so I'm trying hard not to ruin it. Last night I had a dream about eating cookies and chocolate and all the rubbish and it was so real, when I woke up I was really worried I had ruined it and felt awful. So whenever I feel like cheating I'm gonna remind myself that awful feeling, hope it's gonna help me I haven't got the book but I've found A LOT of information on the internet, all the 4 phases and acceptable foods and all that I've tried so many diets and none of them have really worked. Or I've just given up coz I didn't see any results.
Little more about me. I'm 19
    Height: 5'7''
    CW: 181
    GW: 131

I've read many success stories and everyone is so supportive here, makes me feel so good. Seeing that so many people can do it then why on earth couldn't I.

    Re: I'm new

Hi there, I am new as well! We seem to have started on the same day, I am on my third day today.

How are you doing so far?

Surprisingly I am finding it quite easy to stick to which I didnt think was possible without my sugar, bread & rice, I am starting to wonder if its supposed to be so easy......cant help but worry if I am doing something wrong.

Anyways good luck, I am sure you'll do great!

Thank you so much for replying So far I'm doing great. I'm exactly the same - I love coffee and Italian food (which means LOTS of pasta) and all that but so far it has been dead easy. And I've been eating quite a lot. I'm worried about messing things up too so I keep reading the acceptable foods list and leave everything out that makes me doubt. You know what helps you a lot? Go to www.fitday.com you can write down everything you eat and it calculates all the fat and carbs and calories and all that. It is brilliant!
I haven't weighed myself, I don't want to yet, don't want to disappoint myself. But I feel lighter and better and I can definitely see some small changes What about you?

Good luck and keep in touch! I wanna know how you're doing

Welcome to the boards! This place is great for inspiration. If you ever feel like you want something sinful and illegal, just come on here and remind yourself why you're doing this.

Exercise, eat right and drink plenty of water and you'll be seeing results in NO time at all!

Glad you are joining the board, Berit. You would do well to read the book, even if you just borrow from the library. Atkins covers more than just what to eat at what stage in there, tho didn't see anything about eating nightmares. Those are pretty scary! Hop you get past that stage of withdrawal soon.

                  Hi Berit
                  Welcome to our ADBB family.

As has been said already - try to get hold of the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution and read up on the theory and science behind the Atkins way of eating.

Most charity shops have at least one copy on their shelves for less than a pound I have found (if your budget is a bit too tight to fork out for a new copy!)
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

                    Hi Berit,
I am also on my third day of Induction and it is going pretty well, not all the cravings are gone yet, but I am hoping they will be soon. Wishing you the best on your journey. I have only been a member for a few days and have already learned a ton from reading all the posts.

                      Welcome to the boards Berit!

I went through the same fears during induction...always thinking I would mess it up and it wouldn't work for me...but believe me when you measure yourself and step on the scale again you will be amazed at the results. On that note...dont be a slave to the scale...if it happens it doesn't move it doesn't mean it's not working or you've ruined anything...there are several ways of measuring success, all of which you can easily find here on the boards and in Dr. Atkins' book.

Best of luck on your weight loss journey and if you need anything feel free to send me a message!
