  • I am new and starting today

    Hello, My name is a Lisa and I am going to begin my weight loss journey 07/13/06…. As I’ve scrolled thru the different post, and forums I find that tears are welling up in my eyes, and for the first time I feel like I am not alone. With each before and after picture I see, I get more and more emotional because, I see how happy you all are, and how much success you have found…. I WANT that!!! I don’t know any of you but draw great inspiration from you. I admire each and every one of you for the changes you have made… It is truly AMAZING!!!



    As for me, My struggle w/ weight began after having kids, although I refuse to use that as an excuse, it was completely my fault.. Over the past 4 years I have watched myself Gain so much weight that, I no longer know the person looking back at me in the mirror. Ive tried weight watchers, along with many others and have yet to be able to obtain any substantial weight loss. I have had many friends who have done Atkins and have see the wonders it can do, so I am going to give it my all. I am not looking for a quick fix and relize I have a long rode ahead. However I feel having somewhat of a support group to talk to may just be the key factor for me. I once heard someone say, “Things will remain the same, until the pain of being the same is greater then the pain of change” and that is where I am right now.



    With all that said I am starting my diet w/ a current weight of 284, and hope of getting down to 150. Any tips you may have are welcomed …. I

    Welcome Home to ADBB. I hope you find that this is a great place to be able to find more information, share information, and become a part of the great family of people who are facing the same obsticles and journey you are facing: taking care of you the best you can.

      Hi Lisa, welcome!

      You have certainly come to the right place for inspiration and support. I was a newbie just a month ago, around the same weight as you (294) and with the advice I've gotten here, paired with willpower, I've fully submerged myself in this way of life. You can do it too!

      Don't hesitate to jump in and get started. I suggest starting a journal in the journal chats section, it's a great help!

        Hey LisaMarie! Welcome to the ADBB! I'm so glad you found us. You will find lots of support and encouragement here. I second Christine's suggestion about starting a journal. It is a great source of encouragement and a great way to get to know people here. Congratulations on taking the first step to a healthier you! Happy Losing!

          hello and welcome!!! I'm here if you need any help!!! And I'm sure you can make it!
          Make sure you have the book "New Diet Revolution" the 2002 edition, that's the one we are using here 'cause it's the most accurate!!!

                    Welcome to the board, LisaMarie! You're in good company and you've definitely come to the right place!!

                    My first tip? CHANGE THE WAY YOU SPEAK TO YOURSELF.

                    Don't hope for 150. KNOW IT!! CLAIM IT!! CALL IT!! OWN IT!!

                    Hope is wishy-washy and leaves room for an out!

                    I'd strongly suggest taking the time to write down your goals - and be specific. If you'd like, I can show you my original goal setting journal. I used Body For Life's goal setting template for mine and continue to do so today. It works for me. Statistically, people who take the time to write their goals down in black and white and read them regularly are more successful

                    Use us. We're right here!

                    I won't wish you luck because luck has squat to do with it. Instead, I'll wish you success!
