  • I'm starting today 7/16/06

    HI I'm Holli.

I'm a single mom of 2 kids and I don't have the energy to keep up with them.
I work at a doctors office and when I come home I'm too tired to do anything.
    I'm 75 to 80 pounds overweight I'm 5'3 and 32 yrs old.

I was talking to a friend of mine and he's doing Atkins and loves it he's lost 40 lbs and told me I should try it. So I got the book and some cd's I'm going to try it today. My problem is I love to eat, even for emotions sometimes when I'm upset I eat.
I want to do better but I really haven't tried any diets I just give up and say "oh well" but when I see pics of me at family functions I think to myself that's not me I'm huge.
So any incuragement or uplifting words would be nice. I'd like to be healthy for my kids.

Hello Holli! You came to the right place. ADBB is great for advice, inspiration, comfort and encouragement. Best advice I can give is try your very best to do a clean induction, as that will: a) Break the sugar cravings. b) Give you a fair idea of how many carbs you should be able to eat at maintenance.
Once you're through the induction flu (which you might be lucky and not get) you'll feel amazingly energised and your hunger will probably start to decrease dramatically.

        Drink loads of water.
Read the book (DANDR 2002 edition, which is the one this board goes by)
        Exercise
        Low carb

Soon your clothes will be feeling looser and you'll be getting healthier by the minute!

Do keep us updated of your progress; we're here to help. And, of course, good luck!
