Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

  • Please Help Me!!!!!!!!

    Well here is the question today is my 3rd day and i have few questions and hope someoe can help me soon!!! well not sure if iam getting enough carbs day one i ate eggs and bacon for breakfast so 0 carbs then snack i had few bites of stake so 0 carbs then for lunch i had 1 cup of green salad with ita dress so 2 carbs for dressing how many carbs are in green salad if any?????then i have stake for lunch as well so i olny had 2 grams of carbs for lunch then i had to sauage pattys for dinner which where 6 carbs and green salad with cucumbers with no carbs dress and i had a few pices of cheese and peporoni so no carbs there so i had so by my count i had 8 carbs is that enought what else should i do so iam eating more carbs or is that enough and should ibe counting my salad and cucks too????? please help me soon its 9:15 here and i need to know before lunch so i know what to eat!!! thanks liza

    Hi Liza, and welcome to ADBB.

    To answer your question, as long as you're eating your 3 cups of veggies from the acceptable list, you're doing fine...you do not have to hit 20 carbs.

    Just keep trying to spread out the veggies throughout your meals and snacks whenever you can!

    If you have other questions, you might want to check out the 14 Day Induction forum, there are many people in the same stage of Atkins and a lot of experienced people to help you though.

      Hi Liza. Welcome to the ADBB. Your carbs will go up and down as you try out different meals. As long as you keep them below 20 and make sure you are eating your veggies every day...you should be okay.

      Sheshy gave you some great posts to read that should answer most of your questions - also refer to the DANDR (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution) as it is the manual to success!! Be sure to drink lots of water, exercise and measure...you'll be seeing good results very soon.

        thank u very much ladies i thought maybe i was not doing things right! i have been eating 2 cups of salad a day and 1 cup of cucks a day so thats ok and they dont count as carbs right???? at least that what i thought and i have found sonm realy yummy ranch dress that has no cars so i can use as much as i want right??? and i just wanted to make sure i was getting enough carbs cus i want to start seeing progress. and it seems that the chesse i have been eating has no carbs as well it peper jack with no carbs. hummm... i guess ill have to start loking at other food so i can have few more carbs well thanks for all your help ladies!!!!! and it looks as if this has really worked for u ladies congrats ttys later thanks liza

          Be careful with that ranch. Are you absolutely sure it's no carb? (Because if it is, you have to tell me where you found it) Because just about every ranch I have ever seen is at least 2 carbs per serving. Take a look at the label, and make extra sure, and check the ingredients list, and look for things along the line of corn starch, corn syrup, and other common sugar type stuff. According to some things I've heard, here on the forums, most companies are allowed to "round down" the number of carbs a product has, to the nearest whole number. So, if something has, say... 0.6 carbs, they can put 0 carbs on the label, and after 10 servings, thats a full 6 carbs, that you aren't counting, because they are lying to us. Legally.

          Speaking of 0.6... that's how many carbs are in an egg. So, to be on the safe side, I would count each egg as 1 carb. In addition, I would look at that bacon label again, because most bacon is cured with sugar, so it may have carbs as well. Make sure to look at your labels, because if you aren't careful, you may become a victim of "carb creep". It's when those carbs sneak up on you.

          I guarantee, soon enough, you'll start reading the labels on everything you eat, but your body will love you for it.

          (It kinda sounds like I'm being a stickler, doesn't it... I don't mean to, it's just that my sister justifies her cheating all the time, and she doesn't let me help her. She just refuses to give up her carbs. It's her choice in the end, I guess.)

              JUST WANTED TO SAY THANK U AND I WILL BE SURE TO CHECK THINGS A LITTLE BETTER I SURE I HAVE HAD MOE CARBS THAN I THOUHT CUS I WAS NOT COUNTING EGGS CUS THERE WHERE ON MY LIST OF I CAN HAVE AS MANY AS I WANT RIGHT???                     Yeah I agree, keep reading those labels. Also, watch your bacon. I made the mistake of trusting that bacon has no carbs. Right. Have you looked at the ingredients list, cured with sugar, cured with corn syrup, cured with brown sugar, cured with sugar sugar, yikes!! I swear, I think these food producers want us to get fat!! Okay coming down off the platform.

                    Anyway, welcome. Make sure you use a variety of veggies, suitable for induction, you'll get burnt out real quick just eating greens. I say everything except brussel sprouts.....(shiver).....(of course everything on the induction list.... haha!!!)

                    Have fun, be creative. I cook now, my wife and son (not eating this way) say, wow, that looks really good. I smile and eat away!!! It is good!!

                      Welcome - nice posts but someone needs to answer the original questions...

                      1. You count ALL the carbs you consume on atkins, except for those which are fiber. ie, if label says serving has carb 8g fiber 3 g, you count 5g.

                      2. How many carbs your salad has depends on what is in the salad. When I make salad, I measure partial cups of different veggies and add them together, not just 1 cup this or that.
                      You can enter the food eaten in www.fitday.com if you register for free, and you can specify fractions of suggested portion measures by using pull down choice list and a box you type a number in. Fitday will tell you the nutrition info and even calculate your whole days' menu.

                        Also, READ the BOOK....
                        You are limited to 4 oz cheese, for instance, and there are carbs to count in the cheese and possibly the pepperoni, as many processed meats have added ingredients with carbs.

                          Oooppss Sorry Boonie.....we did get off track. She is right you know. Use Fitday.com. I swear you don't think things like spices, veggies, have much carbs, but you will be shocked. Track everything you eat one day using fitday, and you'll be very surprised how quickly they add up. Remember just like Boonie said, If for example, 3 cups of lettuce has (3.45 carbs) and (Dietary Fiber 2.31g) then subtract 3.45 - 2.31, and you've only taken in 1.14 carbs.

                          When using fitday, you have to be 100% honest with yourself about what you eat, if you overeat one day, look where to cut it the next day. After a month of eating, you'll notice certain trends that you have developed, maybe overeating of a certain item (say cheese) and that way you know what to cut back on.
