  • Hi I am new to the board and Atkins

Hi all, I have been on induction for 6 days now and have lost 7 pounds!
I am motivated to continue. But I find myself eating the same things all the time.
I am a single mom of 2 kids and don't have alot of time to prepare meals. I am wondering if anyone knows of a few good websites to find quick and easy recipies that are sutible for induction.
Also I know some artifical sweetner is aloud. Does anyone drink crystal light? I just can't drink all the water with out it. Is this o.k?
    Thanks for reading!

Welcome to ADBB, Freckles. Congratulations on your induction progress so far. I'm a single mom working fulltime, to so I can relate. During induction I had a lot of the same stuff at first too, then started exploring ways to do most of my meal prep on the weekend, like cook a bunch of meat in olive oil with pre-measured veggies tossed in like a stir-fry. If the meal is packaged in single serve packs, pretty soon you've got a variety of quick reheat meals to choose from in the freezer, to which you can add other things for kid's meals like chips or bread.

I've used Crystal light some, but prefer to use my sweetener allowance in other things. Drinking water has become more pleasurable with time, and sweetener tastes sweeter, so I dilute the amount for normal servings.

At work, I keep snacks in my desk or the company fridge, such as porkskins, bouillion cubes, celery, cream cheese, hard cheese, and hard boiled eggs.

WELCOME. Congratulations on making the decision to join the ADBB and start a journey to get healthy.

You should be very cautious about using the Crystal Light. It has Aspartame in it which can cause stalls and affect your insaline. The purpose of induction is to break our habits from the foods/drinks that we are addicted to, so if you can drink plain water for that 14 day period, it will benefit you more.

If you google "low carb induction meals" you should be able to find some websites that have excellent recipes. I have found the beauty of spices to help me with my meals. I cook most of my meals on the weekend while I clean house and freeze them. It it easier to take them out and pop in the oven to heat up. I also use experiement a lot more with veggies since doing Atkins.

Best wishes and keep us posted on your progress! We all want to see you succeed and share your success.

Hi Freckles...Congrats on the 7 pounds lost already! That's awesome! You should check out the "journal chats" section. You can start a journal there and meet lots of great people who will give lots of advice, support, and encouragement along the way.

As for recipes... I found myself eating alot of the same things too so I know it can get old. A really GREAT site that I use is Linda's Low Carb Recipes - http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/

She has some really great induction recipes on there. I recommend the "Just like stuffed baked potatoes," and the "Bacon Cheeseburger Quiche." They are easy to make (trust me, I'm not the greatest cook ) and you can make a bunch at one time and freeze it for quick meals. There's even recipes for low-carb cheesecake on there. YUM! Keep us posted on your progress. Happy Losing!
