  • hi from trinidad and tobago, caribbean

Hi everyone, Phew... I have been on atkins about three times and each time i have lost weight only to put on more than i lost.
    ANY advice will be welcome.
About me-I dont eat fowl or pork so that leaves me limited to seafood, beef and eggs.
Another thing i have a sweet tooth and i drink ALOT of Coffee.
Any hints to remain on the program this time?
I have always lasted about three weeks.
I have a six week goal this time- how much is a realistic amount to expect to loose?
    thamks in advance everyone.

welcome! I love coffee too, but I'm really trying to follow atkins seriously this time. Coffee can stall or slow down your progress. I had to give it up. I do have decaf once in a while, not every day. (with heavy cream and splenda....induction friendly)
This plan does work, I am on week 3, and now I'm doing well. This first week is the hardest.
You can do this! If you really want it.

Hi there, rayard singh! Yuo ention that you have a 6-week goal. Does that mean you expect to lose x number of pounds in 6 weeks, or that you plan to follow Dr. Atkin's instructions for 6 weeks and then quit?\

If you haven't already, you really need to get your hands on Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) and read it. In this book you will learn that everone's situation is unique to them. For some it may be realistic to lose 30 pounds in 6 weeks, for others, it may be only 10.

The purpose of doing Atkins is geard towards not just restoring your body to a healthy weight, but also to health and a way of eating and exercising for life which will keep you that way.

During the induction (just the 1st of several phases of the diet) you address problems such as your sweet tooth and caffeine addiction, and get control of them.

        Welcome Rayard!

I can only speak from my experience on how I changed my life-style to lose weight. If I don't plan my meals, exercise program and WOL, then I procrastinate. I do much better if I have it written down so I can keep it fresh on my mind. Keeping a journal with my measurements, plans and menus was the thing that kept me truthful to myself and my WOE.

Look at this as a life-style change, not a diet to temperarily take weight off. Make a list of the reasons you want to lose the weight. Go over that list daily, weekly or however many times it takes for you to want it bad enough to make it happen.

All changes we make in our life have to be practiced until they become a habit. Changing your attitude to not feel deprived because of the foods you are eliminating, but being happy with the foods that you are incorporating into your life. Check out new recipes and experiment with spices and new foods. You say you only eat seafood, beef and eggs. There are so many ways to fix those three things that each meal can be exciting to eat. I primarily eat chicken and fish, but I've found new ways to cook them so that I never get bored from them.

Make it a point to be creative and find joy in making this a lifestyle change that you can live with. I found that I enjoyed the benefits of losing far more than I missed the chips, potatoes, and bread. Those things never brought me as much happiness as I've found in my new body.

You can do this!! The ADBB is full of people who you can do it with. Everyone here wants to see you succeed. Thanks to this forum, you never have to do it alone.
