  • Hello from Newfoundland and Labrador

Hi my name is bob and this is my second time on the atkins diet.
My problem is that I eat to much of everything, especially breads.
Though I had success my first time I also had bowel problems.
It was probably due to the lack of fiber.
In the past 2 years my weight has gone up to 325 pounds.
I hope that the people on this forum will be able to help me stay with the diet and give me some advice on how to deal with the problems I had last time.

                Hi bob and welcome
I too was a BIG bread eater..anything pastries too. They were good stomach fillers when i weighed 362..It was quantity not quality i consumed and i very rarely ate veggies.
I also had the bowel problems for the first couple of weeks but soon learnt that eating a good variety of veggies(especially dark green ones...spinach is excellant) and drinking lots...and i mean lots of water soon got me going.
I havent touched bread for 13 weeks now and i will say that i missed it for the first few weeks but,not anymore.
The way that works for me is...Bottle up my water for the day ,that way i can keep track on how much ive drunk .
Make sure i have plenty of pre-prepared foods in the fridge on hand for those times you need something quick and havent the time to make.(boiled eggs, tuna mayo, cold chicken and ready tubbed salads etc)
Try new foods and new recipes..that way you dont get bored.
Make exercise a daily part of your life and not a chore....find something you enjoy doing and just do more of it.

come and join me and others on the ( "how long can you go")challenge. This place is great for encouragement and advice to help us stay cheatfree and on track.

I wish you luck bob as you have now found the best place to be for support and info.

Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement and welcome. I have been reading many wonderful things in the forums and am looking forward to participating. I am currently on day 8 of induction and feeling the flu. I didnt know about the flu until I read about it here. I am 47 years old in september and 6'1". I currently weight 325 lbs and am a size 48 waste. I really hope I can stay on this new WOL and start to feel good about myself physically. I am pretty solid emotionally and spiritually so it's time to get the real me out of this fat suit. The reason I didnt stay with this WOL the last time is because of my job. TTFN.
