  • Tomorrow is the big day!!!

Im back after 18 months. I had only started atkins for about 2 weeks before quitting after finding out i was pregnant. Thankfully (and only by luck or something) Im at the same starting weight i was at last time before the baby. So havent gained anymore. I lost 18 lbs in 2 weeks last time and am excited what this time around will bring when i stick with it. I tend to loose really easily. However, I gain just as easily, haha. I am re-reading the book and should be done today.

I have lost a tad (about 3 lbs) jsut by cutting out all my junk food in the past week. Tomorrow is grocery day and I can stock up on the things i need to start this WOL. I will be doing this alone with a husband who still expects me to cook his junk meals. (seriously junk, i dont think he eats anything that grows naturally on earth, all man made processed foods.)

So without much support I will be doing this alone, which ironically only makes me want to do it more.

    My question is:

What staples should i have around the house for snacks and such?

    I have on my list:
    Eggs
    Cheeses (hard)
    nuts
    greens (salad greens baby spinach)
    meats
breakfast type meats (bacon, sausage) (is smoked sausage allowed?)
    salmon and perch

Does anyone know if imitation crab meat is okay?

Drinks wont be a prob i have been a water addict since last time and havent drank a pop since. NO CAFFIENNE ADDICTION TO BREAK HERE!!!! YAY!

Last time was horrible headaches because of it.

I think the only thing i will miss is milk. oh and cereal, i could eat that every meal. Oh well, ya know what they say, nothing tastes as good as losing weight feels. How true!

Let me know if ya have any suggestions for things to stock up on.

I bought some imitation crab meat and it has a bunch of carbs, for some reason I assumed and didnt look. Do you have that DANDR book? It has a list of acceptable induction foods in it. Your list looks good, do you really buy perch? Is it good?

Best wishes on your journey. Like Jacksuncle said...DR. A's book is necessary to keep handy, the 2002 version. Have fun checking out the recipes and trying out new foods while on Induction.

Ps...smoked usually equals salt. So watch the salt in sausages and bacons. Drink your water and keep your booty in exercise

Hi Mindy. Welcome to the ADBB.

Do you have Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. There is a list of the induction foods that you should only eat for the first two weeks on the program.

From there, you can decide if you want to do an extended induction (longer than two weeks) or if you want to move up to the OWL phase to add more allowable foods. Here is also a wallet sized card that you can print that one of our members made. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...t=lostandfound

I'm glad you are a water addict, (I am too) cause it is essential to drink a lot of water.

You never have to do this alone. The ADBB is filled with people who are changing their life-styles and sharing knowledge and friendships to get healthy and lose weight. The forums are packed with life/health issues, info on how to do the program, inspirational stories and photos, and exercise challenges to keep you motivated.

Make sure you take your measurements as well as weight every few weeks so you can see the inches melting off. This is a big motivator to keep you focused and motivated.

Everyone here is supportive and wants to see you succeed. You can start a journal in the Journal forum that will help you meet other members and keep track of your progress.

        BEST WISHES - Happy Low-carbing!!
        Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

yes i get the perch from walmart, its ok but not the best perch i have ever had. I have even gotten the frozen individually packaged perch there too but its not as good.

I am going to try it. Just grill it? I am a bachelor so my cooking skills are either the first 4 things in the spice cabinet or an easy recipe..in bold print...from a kids book.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
