  • New Kid on the Block

This is my first day really trying Atkins. I have attempted several times but lacked the commitment. I am hoping that now that I have sought some additional tools like this support system I will be able to get over the hump. I have been successful with low fat diets and exercise in the past. The last two years I have changed jobs, lost a sibling and experienced some marital problems. Although I continued to exercise it wasn't as intense and I started eating unhealthy again. I hope that this time I will be able to get over the hump and make permanent changes.

Hello and welcome Slimdown. Welcome to you too Kellyjayne.
ADBB is an awesome place for advice, inspiration and support. You've hit gold in coming here.
Sorry to hear about your loss and stressful couple of years Slimdown, but it's great that you've decided to tackle your weight. Hopefully, success with Atkins (and you will be successful if you stick to the plan) will help with the other issues. Nothing better than feeling good about oneself to boost morale and keep you positive.

        Remember:
Low carb (20grams or under in induction)
Exercise (as much as you comfortably can, with gradual increase)
        DANDR (2002 edition)
        Water (gallons of the stuff)
        Support (this board)

Hope you have every success with Atkins and steadily move towards your goal!

Re: New Kid on the Block

Welcome Slimdown and Kellyjane. Sorry to hear about your loss. ADBB offers lots of support and motivation to help you as you change your life-style to get healthy and lose weight.

The best way to start is to make a plan for success. Commit to doing a clean induction, exercise, drink water and take supplements as Dr. Atkins explains in Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. If you don't have the book, I'd recommend you get it and read it. It is filled with all the knowledge you'll need to be successful on Atkins.

Take your measurements so that you will see the inches melting as well as the weight dropping. I started the program 2+ years ago and I've never felt better. You are not alone. The ADBB is filled with people who are making it happen and want to see you succeed. Keep us posted on your progress.
          Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
