  • New Here!!!

HOWDY FROM TEXAS!! I am new here. This looks like a great place to hang out and loose some weight. I just started with induction so 9-3-06. I did not weigh myself, however, I went to the doctor Aug 15th and had blood work and weight check. I was 334 then. So I am going to stay with that number as my starting point. I refuse to weigh myself until OCT 3rd. I know that sounds crazy but last time I did induction I weighed daily and it was exhaulsting for me. I lost 30lbs in 30 days. That was 5 years ago.....wow did i just say 5 years ago? I was 270 at that time so I have put on 60+ pounds. I am the mother of 4 children 2 teenagers and 2 preteenagers and I would like to loose weight so I can do things with them. I am determined to make it this time. I have a short term goal of 20 pounds by OCT 3rd. I play to stay in induction for at least 4 weeks. I really have never been past induction so I will need start reading up on what I need to do after induction. My husband has also started with me. He is doing well so far, I don't know his weight cause we can't find a scale to weigh him, hes over 400lbs. No joke but he is supose to go weigh himself at the truck scale on the way home from Houston today. But we have to have get some idea of his weight. Any ideas or suggestion for us durring induction would be great. Thanks, Royce

    Re: New Here!!!

Welcome, Royce. You can always count on us for suggestions and advice, even if it's (as my posts often are) a little outside of the box.

Why not invest in a 2nd pair of ordinary scales, put them side by side. Have hubby stand on the 2, one foot centered on each, then add the two numbers. His weight will be distributed between the 2 scales, and each can hold 300 lbs.

Hi Roy ... Welcome! So happy to have you join us. Good decision to wait till Oct 3 to weigh. That will definitely give you a bigger boost when you do weigh. Also, take the measurements now so you can see how many inches you'd lost in that time. Best wishes and please keep us posted.

        Re: New Here!!!

Thank you ladies for the advice and the idea to use 2 scales to weigh my hubby. I failed at one thing this week. I did break my own rule of weighing in. Our family joined the YMCA Saturday and Sunday I went jogging in the pool(I have a bad back and this is the only way I can get my body moving) and they had a scale their. So I got on it. I lost 8 lbs!!! I am even more excited about the fact that my husband blood sugar is way down. A little over a week ago we decided to get him one of those testing meters because diabities runs in his family and because he had been drinking so much fluid and peeing alot. His first day showed 350 in the am. 240 in the afternoon, and 259 in the evening. He has been doing atkins for a week and his blood sugar has taking a steady drop. It was in the 150's and sixtys most of the week and last night was the lowest. 104!!!!!
