  • I'm tired of being fat.

VERY tired of being fat, in fact. So, I started Atkins.

I started the day after my 20th birthday, because I sat home, while all my friends were out having a good time(they're all 21+). I had no desire to go out to the clubs, or the parties like they were, because I just felt so out of place, and disgusted with myself. So, the next day I decided to do something about it.

I was also diagnosed with PCOS recently, and was told my symptoms would decrease, and my chances of conceiving later in life would increase if I lost my extra weight. That was motivation enough. I reallyreally want children in the future.

So, I've put my mind to it, and really stuck with it. For the first time I didn't cheat or cave within the first 3 days. Infact, it took me over a week to cave, and I got right back to it after the small cheat, and haven't looked back. I haven't had any candies, chocolates, or soda (my three weaknesses) and I feel amazing.

So, here I am, 11 days later, 11 pounds lighter, not so bitter, and very excited about my whole new life ahead of me. Hopefully hitting goal by my 21st birthday (or maybe even less if possible) and having the time of my life with friends, while being healthier and feeling good about myself.

welcome to ADBB and to Atkins. congrats on getting right back on the low carb wagon after your cheat.

Check out the century club forum and meet others who know how you feel and are or have struggled with the things you will be dealing with.

Low carb weight loss helps with PCOS too cause estrogen production increases when blood sugar is stable and insulin production is lower

Welcome SuitEPeE! Your post made me smile when you said "So, here I am, 11 days later, 11 pounds lighter, not so bitter, and very excited about my whole new life ahead of me."

If you stick to this plan, work it the way it was intended, it WILL work for you! Have you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution copyright 2002? If you are going to put effort into this, make sure you put your efforts in it the right way. That book is the instruction manual!

      Anyway, welcome to ADBB.

Re: I'm tired of being fat.

Great job on staying motivated SuitEPeE! Those first few days are the hardest -- and you've blown through them -- and 11 pounds!

Gosh, I can't tell you how much I wish I had gotten control over my weight (and eating and exercise and related emotional baggage) when I was 20. NOW is the time -- stay motivated. Don't look back when you are my age (a ripe old 34) and see how much time you wasted being miserable about your weight. Yes, I've had a great life so far and have much to be thankful for, but my weight was always there, overshadowing everything...

SuiteEPeE, you can do this! If you feel like you want to eat something you shouldn't, pause and come here. If you post that you need urgent help, I can almost guarantee that someone will respond to you within minutes. And, while you wait, read other posts. Pick out a couple of people whose journals you like, and keep up with them. I'm doing that now, and it's amazing the difference it makes in your mindset. Not only don't I want to let myself down, but I also don't want to let down my fellow ADBBers who have taken an interest in me and my journey, and shown me how much they care about my success.

Take care, and best of luck to you. We look forward to seeing you around!

If I just cut carbs can I not follow the diet exactly. If not what should I do?
