  • Trying Atkins again wish me luck.

Well this will be my second time around with atkins. Back in 1998 I did it and lost 70 pounds. well 8 years later I gained it back plus 15 pounds... This time i will maintain at my goal weight of 260 lbs. As of 2 days ago when I started I was 334lbs.6'6".. I am an ex pro athlete so my build is to be big but at the age of 37 my knees are feeling the extra weight. my goals are by xmas of 06 to be below 290 lbs.. Heres my problem since I am at infancy of my weight loss i need a helping hand on foods that are going to be ok while out to eat.. I take clients out 3 nights a week and last thing I want to do is make my clients feel uncomfortable with the way i eat. Tonight I am going to Abe and louies steak house in Boston what do I eat...I really want to stay strict. Help

Welcome to the site and to doing Atkins again. I really do not have a problem with eating out or even disguising my plan for those who do know or have to know. Especially at a steakhouse, you should be offered lots of choices with it being ala` carte. If they ask you about a potato choice, all you have to say is not tonight or tell you spent the money on a better steak. Ask what veggies they have, usually any roasted vegetables should be fine (and saves the whole no croutons on my salad bit).

The bread course is out of course, but you can certainly not let on as to why you aren't eating it. (Saving room for the steak of course would be one ready made excuse.) I hope this helps, and I wish you much luck but more than just simply perserverence.

Also read the book again to refresh your memory and check for the differences between your past version and the new 2002 version.

call the place you are going and ask about the foods and how they are prepared then armed with that info go in and be a picky orderer asky foir the foods you know you can have without the sauces and stuff like crutons in the salad, bread, potatoes, usually they will have steamed veggies you can sub.

use websites if the restaurant is a chain too. you'd be surprized how many low carbers there are out there and since the tip is dependandt on service most waitstaff are more then willing to accomadate you as best they can.

Welcome back. I understand your frustration, but the good news is you've found the right place for support and encouragement. I agree with 2big4mysize. I always call ahead and find out what they serve and how they can accomodate my meal. Most places are happy to please you to keep your business. I never make excuses for my choices of meal - I order what I know I can eat and don't care what others think. Your clients don't care what you are eating, they are too busy thinking of what they are going to eat.

Be sure to make a plan for success this time around. Be sure to include your weight loss plan into your daily routine. You can do this. We are all here to help you! Best wishes.
