  • Hello everyone

My name is Sonja. I am currently on day 10 of my induction. I have lost a total of 9 pounds, and for some reason gained .5 back last night so 8.5 to be exact. To make a long story short......
I am 26 I have a daughter 2 1/2 and a son 6 months. Between the two pregnancies I gaines 205 pounds. I have lost 63.5 pounds to date. Not all from Atkins though just the last 8.5 was from that.
I am 291.5 pounds and am looking to be 160 and %10 bodyfat. I am really into weight traning and hope to gain some lean mass during this tiem i am losing weight. I am finding that i am not as energetic as i had hoped on this diet so I may wait awhile before I go back to the gym. i plan on doing and extended induction. I am starting to get the hang of this and have only had cravings once and some sugar-free jello took care of the thankfully. I do see now after reading many of the posts on this board that I need to be adding more fats to my diet.
Here is a typical day for me, if you could give some ideas on weather to add fat and if so what would be a good fatty food I would appretiate it!

Breakfast - eggs cooked in butter and whipping cream, sausage or bacon
    Lunch - 4 hamburger patties
Dinner - Chicken fried with butter and spices or a meat and cheese plate
If I am very hungry I will eat porkrinds or peperoni (sugarfree of course)

I used to be an every 2-3 hour eater but am finding that I am hungry every 4-5 hours now so this has helped in my intake quite a bit. I no longer feel like a compulsive over eater, I feel like I have control for once.

Anyways I am happy to be here, and can't wait to get involved in the boards more. I look forward to meeting everyone and cross your fingers for me that i can keep this induction up lol!

Hi Sonja. Welcome. Congratulations on the 8.5 pounds lost so far. You've come to the right place for encouragement as you plan your new life-style. If you haven't already, read the book, it is Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002. It really helps to read Dr. Atkins own words how this weight loss program works.

Along with recording your weight loss, be sure to take your measurements so you can see the inches melting too. You aren't alone in the quest for health and weight loss, we are all working together to reach our goals. The ADBB is filled with lots of inspirational stories, photos and forums that will keep you motivated and lend you support. I look forward to hearing about your success!!

Hi sonja and welcome to ADBB!

I don't see any veggies in your menu, you'll want to add 3 cups to your menu every day (either 2 cups salad veggies and 1 cup "other" veggies or 3 cups salad veggies).

I'd suggest that you post a few days worth of menus in the Review My Menu forum and get some feedback. Also, signup for a Fitday.com account and keep track of your intake, it really helps!

Here's a great thread on "how much fat do I need to eat" too!

Hope to see you around the board!

Gotta eat those veggies, at least a few at every meal. Not only are they full of vitamins and minerals, they also have that beloved fiber that our bodies need so badly. If your not a veggie eater, there is another gal who has the same issues. Folks are giving her ideas for adding them to her meals.

          Re: Hello everyone

Welcome Sonja. Glad to see you here.

I agree with the others on veggies. I don't like them much either. But, I figure if Dr. A says to eat it then I should be eating them. I usually eat salad at home or at work instead of meat.

Losing the .5 shouldn't really matter. Scales are weird and depending on the day and time you way it will be off due to water or food that has not been digested yet. I encourage you to read DANDR 2002 book. It will explain the scale to you and how it can "lie".

          Have fun!
