good for you with the removing temptation from your meal with your friend. Be bold and tell the waitstaff to not even bring any of the you can't have stuff to the table and do as Dr Atkins says recruit your friends family and coworkers to be part of your support staff. then they too will understand no bread or cake on the table when they eat with you until you have better control of your wants.
I hear you on that chicken for breakfast!

We're not going to a restaurant. I'll cook for him here. I do not trust myself yet. I have had terrific cravings today and am scared to leave the house as I cannot trust myself to walk past the shop!

any new to you food today to trigger that craving? even legal foods can trigger them for some folk.

I understand you aren't going this week, but when you get a little braver do be bold and speak up to the staff at the resturant so nothing is on your table not legal for you. and do recruit your freinds to be strong for you when you can't and to help you over come any temptation in your path. Everybody laughed when my nephew announced he was going to eat my fries for me at the fish house cause i couldn't eat them but I thought it was very sweet and really helped me focus on not eating anything not allowed.

The other half seem to say: "You must also eat small portions AND keep your calories down."

These are, obviously, opposing viewpoints. How can I know what I am supposed to do?

I have clicked on a few people's Fitday and browsed a few days and was shocked to find people having only 500 to 800 calories. I thought that was considered to be starvation mode?

I've had two independent nutritionists tell me that my body needs 2,700 calories per day just for normal living, and if I walk two miles and do an hour's swim, I need 3,600 to maintain my weight.

Going by that, I need only drop to, say, 2000 and the weight should be falling off me.

Can anyone help with this puzzle?

Welcome Helena! You seem very motivated to get this weight off of you for good! Google this....BMR calculator. You can plug in your numbers, and then do some reading around the site. People who eat 500-800 calories a day are not serious about this. Obviously, that's starvation mode and chances are they will become ill and/or not be able to maintain that eating pattern.

I think your nutritionists are probably more accurate! You CAN eat plenty on this and you SHOULD eat plenty on this. If you stay satisfied, there will be less chance of slipping backward. Find your number and go with it!

Hi Helena, i am starting again today, i completely understand about feeling worried about going out. I am a fastfood, going out, junkie... i hate cooking for one. But i also am going to contain my food to what i make with my own hand. I need to get into that habit anyway. Hang in there, its one decision at a time. Keep remembering the energy you are feeling, keep remembering how you can exercise now, keep remembering persistence will get the job done and soon it will become habit.

                    i am routing for you.

One thing to remember when you're checking out other folks' FitDays are that some of us record everything we can, but if there's something we don't know the ingredients to or amounts to, we can't record it... so like, I log everything I eat, the other day, the site I track my food at said that I ate 850cal one day. Now, if someone looked at this who wasn't me, they would think I was starving myself. On the other hand, I know that I also had some spinach and cheese dip with broccoli, and a huge salad with meat for lunch, so I'm missing at least another 600cal that should be on the record. You see what I'm saying?

                        Hi Helena:

I've also just posted a new thread , this is my 2nd time on Atkins. I lived in the UK for 12 years and have been in the US for 2 years, when i moved here I put on about 40/50 pounds in the first 6 months I was here and was introduced to Atkins at work, in 6 months I lost 60 pounds BUT i went back to my old way of eating and now I've put all the 60 pounds back on. I know that here in the US there's more of a low carb frenzy than over there so you find a lot more low carb foods etc but you can still do very well on Atkins.
Lets encourgae each other , dont concentrate so much on the scale , measure yourself and just stick to the diet , when i did it first time around some weeks i got into smaller dress sizes but the scale said i had lost nothing.

You absolutely CAN and Will lose all your weight and I will definitely check in with you regularly to tell you how i'm doing
I struggled with sweets/ choclates first time around but the sugr free jellow with cream, low carb yogurt and diet soda really helped me a Lot.

Good luck , even when you have bad days just keep going dont use that as a reason to start the following monady coz i have done that for the last year, lol and thats how i'm now having to do this again, but this time i will do it and i will never leave the LIFESTYLE again

                              Thanks Cand and Kat!

Thank god I didn't win the bicycle. There is no way I can fit my 64" hips onto a tiny little saddle. It would hurt so much! (At the gym my huge legs rub rub rub on the frame of the exercise bikes so I cannot use them.)

I am pretty well naffed off at my lack of weight loss. I have been at this stage before and it is dangerous. It has always led to a very large bar of chocolate and the furious thought "Oh what the ****, I'm not losing anyway, I might as well enjoy myself".

BUT - I am not going to do it!

15 days without sugar. I'm not going to break that, am I? Such a shame. Such a waste of the 15 days.

I bought an Indian suit on ebay called a salwar kameez, it is a sort of dress thingy with matching harem type pants. (See ebay 5313983112) I am going to wear it to a book launch party tomorrow. I may be 326 pounds but I am going to WOW them!
