  • Started Atkins Again

Several years ago I did Atkins and lost the extra 10 pounds I'd carried for a number of years. I felt so good. Went back to old habits aftera 3 week trip to Italy and stress. Last spring I tried counting calories, drove me crazy and didn't work. I am a sugar junkie. Let me have a bit and I'm off on a binge.
Two weeks ago I started back on Atkins. Reread the book, went on a trip to a wedding last week in South Louisiana and stuck with induction, except I ate 3 pieces of wedding cake. It wasn't even that good. But this incident, afirmed that I can't have sugar. Still lost 2 pounds in 2 weeks which is good for someone not having a lot of weight to loose.
Anyway, I live in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Run my own home based business and have enjoyed this board as a guest and will now participate.

Welcome back! Alrighty, are you ready to stick to the diet? I would suggest following the diet to a T during induction, and then it will ease up a bit after that. However, 3 peices of cake!!! No way. Long after induction you can have 1 piece a few times a year. If you have followed Atkins, 1 piece will be more than satisfying. In fact, you'll get your fill off a few bites. When you don't have desserts on Atkins, the sweetness is almost too much. You really cannot indulge in sweets during the first month or two of Atkins or your cravings will not subside.
Good luck! You can do it and you'll be a happier person when you do. Imagine the day when you eat 2 bites of cake and don't want anymore!

Welcome, soappeddler. I agree -- if you can get that nasty sugar out of your system, the craves will fade significantly. Glad you decided to join us. Best of luck, and keep us posted!

          Welcome!

I read in another post that you were on the nuts rung and wanted to know if you've ever tried almond flour? It is great on chicken as a batter to fry. It is now one of my husband's favorite chicken dishes. There is also a one-minute (or three-minute) small chocolate cake you can make with almond flour if you need a little dessert for the weekend. There are so many options the further up the rungs you go.

I'm on berries and am discovering blueberry flax muffins! It is one of my favorite things for breakfast.

Keep up the good work and let us know how you're doing. You may want to start a journal so everyone can come in and "visit" you and you can visit everyone else too. It is a great way to meet so many people here.

If you ate cake, you didn't really stick to induction! Good to know you're back on track, so you will lose your extra weight now!
