  • Hello, newbie here from Tx

Hi, my name is Kay. This is my second time to try adkins and I am determined to stick to it this time.My mother and brother have lost at least 100 lbs on adkins.I tried it for a short two weeks back in Jan/o6 and lost about 26 lbs, but I don't know what I did very wrong because when I got off of it I gained it back double and now weigh more then ever and didnt really notice untill I just recently attended my sisters wedding and looked at myself in pictures. Don't get me wrong I have always been a big girl and was happy, but now something has to change. So I am determined to totally change my life style and stick to adkins. P.S I think this bullentin board is just the neatest thing ! P.S.S. I read something on here about a bootcamp, How do I go about getting involved?

Welcome Kay. Atkins is a great program as you already know from watching it work for your mom and brother. One way to look at it is that it is not a 'diet'. It is a way of life. You never go off of it, it is designed so that you move up the ladder from induction, on going weight loss (OWL), pre-maintenance and then on to the final stage which is the Life-time maintenance. If you follow these steps that Dr. Atkins laid out for us, you'll be able to make it to goal and stay there.

Have you read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, edition 2002? It will help you to understand the program and plan your journey to success. The ADBB has a lot of invaluable information that will be beneficial to you, keep you motivated and encourage you to keep focused. You don't have to do this alone, we are all here with support. Keep checking for signups to the next bootcamp - I totally recommend it to help you lay out your map to health and weight loss.

      Hi Kay!

I am here in Texas too! And am very much looking forward to cooler weather- so I might actually be able to walk outside with my hubby and not turn into a puddle.

You can do it- One day at a time!
