Hi - I am a 36 year old mom (2 sons: 7 years and one 11 month old baby). I have a full time job. I have about 30Kg's to loose!!

I am 3 weeks into the program. Did my 2 weeks induction and managed quite well.

1 Sept 06 was D Day for me. (Weighed in at (94.7 Kg). In my first week I lost 2.6 kg. Second week only 0.5 Kg. When I weighed myself yesterday after 3rd week I only lost annother 200g. (sooooo depressed!!!) So my total for 3 weeks was 3.5 kg. ( I was hoping that I could loose 5kg per month)

I am a bit dissapointed especially with the last 2 weeks.

For the first 2 weeks I stuck to the rules of induction. When my 3rd week started I decided to stick with 20g of net carbs per day.

Here is what I've been doing the last week:

Breakfast - Atkins Granola bar (3g) and a cup of perculated coffee with a bit of cream and one splenda sweetner tablet. This works well as I dont have time for brekkie at home - so I have a travel mug and have my bar on the way to work.

Lunch - only protein in the form of meat. (left overs from the night before)

Dinner - half a cup of salad and half a cup of vegies with meat.

Evening Snack - Atkins Bar (2g) (I only use the bars that is suitable for phases 1-4)

During the day I drank water - dont think I did 8 glases though.

Only get home at 6pm - then it's "happy hour" - feeding kids doing homework and gettin them to bed by 7pm. 7pm I can start dinner.

This is working well for me and I can see myself doing this for the next year or so untill I reach goal.

I can probalby cut down on the scack bar in the evenings BUT - I cant do without my breakfast Atkins bar.

I LOVE my red wine and had to give that up - must say that it the most difficult thing over week ends - but I am coping fine.

What should I do to speed up the weight loss? I count every carb and I havent exceeded 20g once in the three weeks.

Is it because I dont drink enough water - or is it the second bar I am having in the evenings.

I tested for ketones this morning and only had a trace! Sooooo dissapointing.

This is it for me - if I dont beat the battle of the bulge this time around it will beat me. (had gestational diabetes during my pregnancies and have type 2 now). I can hear my knees giving in under my weight when I climb stairs! I cant keep up with my kids and my job in this body!

Im I at least on the right track here??

Hello Minda, I'm sure you will get plenty of posts for your concern but let me give you some advice first. It's not what you want to hear either. Get rid of those bars. I have heard soooooo many people plateau or give up completely with them. I myself find myself with more craving when eaten in the past. They are no longer a part of my Atkins food list any longer. I wish you the best of luck in your quest for your goal, and hopefully someone can give you even better advice!!!!

Thanks - you're so right - that was NOT what I wanted to hear. I have decided to re-do my induction starting TODAY. No more Atkins bars for me!! Just meat fat and my 12g of induction vegies and salad's per day. I have decided to leave 8g or sweetners and 2 small peaces of chees that I will eat during the day!!!

We moved to Australia from South Africa a year ago - we have something in South Africa called "droe wors" - translated that means "dried sausage". South Africans LOVE their beef jerky - we call it "biltong".

I found a shop in Perth that sells all kinds of South African goodies and they sell "dried sausage". I checked with the owner and he does'nt use sugar in manufacturing it. How lucky can I be!! So I am replacing my Atkins bar with a piece of "droe wors" with my coffee in my travel mug on the way to work.

I spent hours over the weekend reading posts on this forum and I must say - this is what I needed to help me. This is my second time on Atkins. Tried it ten years ago and fialed misserably (did'nt even make the second week of induction...). I know this time will be different. I am motivated and I have this forum!!!
