  • Hey Everybody!

Just wanted to stick my head in the door and say hi. I am new here and am looking for moral support. I tried atkins several years ago, with great results but negative attitude from co workers so i gave in after 1 month and 25lbs.let me tell you that the 1st 3 days were very hard, i felt terrible, but when i woke up on the 4th day, i felt like i had never felt before. it was a great feeling. I am ready to do this again but this time i will keep it to myself at work until i get where i feel comfortable enough to let them all know.i have tried to find the atkins supplements at the local walmart and cvs but with no luck, are they still avail? i am 48 years old, divorced, and feel like i am all alone in this weight battle.when i come home from work i don't like to go anywhere because i am so embarrassed by the way i look. today is my 1st day of induction and i am finally ready to do this once and for all. any support would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

    Re: Hey Everybody!

Hi mw8n2b thin (interesting name) and welcome aboard. This is a teriffic place to renew your journey. You are not alone (I'm in 40's & divorced & done this years ago, too). You should take supplements on this diet, but they don't have to be a particular brand, just without iron because we get enough iron with this WOE an too much can be bad. If you are only familiar with the 70's version of Atkins, you really should read the 2002 edition "Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution", which is much improved.

Best wishes for a speedy switch into ketosis!

        Re: Hey Everybody!

Welcome! You've come to the right place for support and encouragment. That's what we do best here. All you'll get here is positive comments and lots of friends to share the journey with you to health and fitness.

I do recommend you get the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution. It has more scientific research to back the weight loss program, more case studies and more recipes. If your co/workers give you a hard time, just ignore them or write out your daily menus and ask them what foods you are eating that are giving them the right to criticize you. I'm sure they'll see that you are eating a lot healthier than most of them.

Make yourself a plan to succeed and you'll never look back on your old ways of eating. I've been doing Atkins for 2+ years now and I have never felt so good. Best wishes! Can't wait to read about your progress!! You can do this. We are all here to help.
