  • My name is Mary and I am a phatoholic!!!!!

    :icondance

Hello all!!!!!! This is my second time around with atkins....because I have a new baby!!!!!! The first time around was after I had my little girl who is now 2.... Atkins really helped me out....I lost the last 10 stubborn lbs in 2 weeks....I have a goal to loose more this time so I can get down to a lower weight then my pre preg weight.....I am 160 now and pre preg was 140 goal 120...

    ....

I am determined to loose this weight and the fastest and easiest way is atkins.... I didn't exercise last time around just walks which I enjoy..once you start to loose the weight you get the energy and actually want to be more active........I am excited to be back on track... it's day 4 and I am not going to give up till I reach my goal....

Good luck to all new atkiners.......Don't give up and if you have a bad day or meal just keep on doing it and you will see!!!!!

    Mary

Okay first off let me say congrats on the new baby. Secondly let me say welcome back and we are glad to have you.

The third thing I want to say and IMHO the most important is please realize and understand "Atkins is not a quick fix", it is not a plan to use to lose a few or a lot of pounds and then return to your old way of eating. Atkins is a "Way of eating for life." Atkins is a life style change. If you don't understand that principal, you may lose the weight short term, but you will then gain it back when you return to old eating habits. Not only does one gain back the lost weight, but usually a few pounds plus.
Then you end up doing what is called "yo-yo" dieting and that is really unhealthy.
I am not meaning to sound mean or harsh. I just want to help you get the most from this WOE, and begin a healthier life style that you can maintain for life.
So welcome and please don't hesitate to ask if you have questions, as there is plenty of support here on ha.

I am still in my 2 week induction....and no offence taken by comment re way of life......I am sure it is true for most that going on and off a diet this will cause you to gain back weight and for many they gain back even more....For me that is not a worry.....I gained this weight due to my pregnancy....the last time I did atkins was for the same reason to get rid of pregnancy weight....to my delight...it came off very fast and I found it easy because you don't hav to count anything really as long as you eat the right foods ...yes I know 20 g carb but you can do that without really using a calculator.....also I only had 10 lbs to loose last time and when I got off atkins it did not return because my usual way of eatting has always worked for me....Pregnancy however does not really agree with me both times I gained.....over 50lbs.....and both times it was worth it....my kids are now my # 1 priority and my goal is to get in shape by summer so I can take them to the beach ..and keep up with them....energy very needed....I am not a expert on what a healthy diet is....and I do question how healthy atkins really is....however I am an expert on what has worked for me......the key for me in the past was exercise......but when diet is combined with exercise I had the best results ....but I hardly ever did diet when I was that active.....my weight when I am not active stays at 140 and that is the most I hav ever been in my life now 34.....so not worried about yo yo for me but I do encourgae anyone who has had a weight problem most of their lives to comit to some changes once weight is off....because what you were doing in the past was not working for you......plus with your new lower weight you should definately feel more energized and may just want to do more active things because they are fun.....

I hav not changed my profile since my 1st post think I hav only lost about 5 lbs.....I find it hard to eat 3 meals, I get very busy and forget to eat....so I may be slowing down my metabolism.....I only ate 2x today...not good....
