  • Hello, new to Atkins Diet

Hello, I am new to the Atkins Diet, although I have often heard about it (in the media) and am pleased I stumbled across this forum a few weeks ago. I thought I had better introduce myself.

I have been the eternal yo-yo dieter pretty much my whole life from the age of 10. You know how it is. Teenage dieting. Then later, move out of home, eat healthy meals by yourself, hit the gym, look and feel fantastic for a couple of years. Meet your future husband, get married and start cooking him 'big dinners' and eat them also. Then have children and put on even more pounds. lose some, gain more, lose some gain more. I have been all the way up to 308lbs at one stage and have also had the very real pleasure of weighing 141 lbs for years. My poor body, I want to get back to the 140's

I know I will probably have some questions as time marches on, that aren't answered in the book. I only started induction last week, but am feeling pretty good. Hope to meet some friendly people, and from what I have read so far, I'm sure that will be easy.

Hi Sweetgirl2, welcome. Your story is very familiar to most of ours...but the good thing is you've found the ADBB. You'll find a lot of support, information, advice and friends here that are all making the life-style changes to get healthy and fit.

Sounds like you've read the book, so you're on the right trail. Joining challenges and keeping a journal are excellent ways to keep motivated. Have you taken your measurements? Thats also important to see the inches drop as well as the pounds. I look forward to helping you celebrate as you shrink! Keep posting!

        Thankyou both.

Yes, I did take measurements the morning I started. Wish I had taken more though because already my shoes are too big!

I'll be sure to check out challenges and all the other good things here.

And the new friends (1-4 in Jimmie 48 post) that you meet will make you feel good, look good and give you satisfaction with your body and your life. The old friends that you mentioned saying goodbye to will no longer be able to make your life miserable.

Re: Hello, new to Atkins Diet

I am really looking forward to all those benefits and many, many more. So many of them got shrouded in fat. I know this is the right thing to do, for me.

I was slightly making a joke about friends. But the first week, last week, it really was very hard and it did feel a bit like I had lost my friends. That's emotional eater me talking.

I resisted and followed the plan and I'm glad I did. I have even now found myself thinking about exercise, and doing it, when I feel those feelings creeping up. Thanks, I am really going to focus on those good things more.
