Hi all. I'm wondering why I haven't lost more weight (only 3 pounds) after 2 weeks induction. I did Atkins successfully about five years ago, so I know how to faithfully follow all the rules. Some possible reasons for slow weight loss:
I already lost about 20 pounds on a routine, low-calorie diet over about two months -- I decided to try Atkins induction to head off a stall or plateau. Do people lose more during Artkins induction because it's the first step in their weight loss? In other words, am I in the dreaded plateau or stall regardless of being in induction? I have been in steady ketosis since day 3 of induction.
I had been walking briskly for about 45 minutes daily before induction. I felt so weak during induction that I was only able to exercise about 20 minutes on four separate days. Did this reduced exercise contribute to low weight loss?
Because I travel non-stop, I had to substitute Atkins bars and shakes a couple times a day for an induction meal. Also, I drank Diet Coke with Splenda and caffeine in addition to water. Do the bars, shakes and Diet Coke literally affect ability to lose weight, assuming one doesn't eat more than 1000 - 1500 calories daily?
I'd appreciate any insight; I've already read various discussions on official and non-official Atkins message boards on people don't lose much weight during induction (sneaky carbs, metabolism, thyroid, etc.) and I don't think any of those apply to me.
Will my weight loss take off if I remain in induction?
If not, I'd just as soon try something less restrictive, like South Beach.
Thanks all.
