Hi everyone!
Some of you atkineers that have been here for awhile will remember me. Hello to you and to the new members and big HI! too.
Remember 1 1/2 years ago I fell on my face , while walking for exercise, and broke the orbital of my left eye. Well....I have been having lots of trouble with my neck for months now.
I finally came to the conclusion that my neck wasn't going to quit hurting on its own. So I went to my Dr. and asked him if my horrible pain in my neck and my headaches could be from my fall. He ordered an MRI. What I found out from this test was just what I expected. I am now waiting til, Oct. 18th to have cervical spine surgery in Amarillo, Texas.
My problem is more heredity than injury. My dad's family are prone to spinal stenosis(narrowing of the area where you spinal cord lives) and wouldn't you know I inheredited it. So I have a big ol bone spur pinching my spinal cord at the 5th vertebre. They will be removing the wornout disc and fusing, 5th and 6th vertebre. Also repairing an area that is not in alignment. The neurosurgeon said I should have a good outcome from my surgery. He said where my spine at 5th and 6th, if don't get any worse than that, but that the rest of my c-spine is in good shape. I am so ready to get this done and start the healing process.
I have stopped walking for exercise for a few months now, because my neck would be throbbing when I got thru. I haven't been way off my WOE. But I do tend to eat to much of the right foods. I can see the pattern of wanting to return to feeding my pain. Bad habits are hard to keep at bay, when I am in pain. Without the exercise, I am seeing my weight inch back up. I did post a picture of how I look now.
So on Wednesday, Oct. 18th at around 1pm, I will be in surgery. Anterior Cervical Diskectomy with fusion is what I am having done.

Here is a discription of what I am having done.
I am asking you for prayers.
