  • Hey! I'm new

Just wanted to stop by an introduce myself. My name is Kathy - I am just finishing up my second day of induction and it's going pretty well so far. I thought about trying Atkins once before...I sure wish that I would have started when I thought about it the first time instead of waiting. But, no matter, I'm here now and I'm ready to go.

So, since this is a weight loss forum...let me give you a little bit of history about my weight. Until I moved to Michigan 3 years ago, I never had a problem with my weight. I stayed steady at about 135 pounds...well, I was pregnant when we moved here and I was lonely cause I decided to stay home from work and my DH was working ALL the time so I made friends with my food. After I had my baby and gained weight, it got worse because I didn't like the way I looked so I would avoid social situations and in turn stay home and yes, eat more food. Of course, we all know this is a vicious circle - I'm just not sure why it's taken me so long to realize it.

At any rate, here I am. I'm motivated like crazy right now but I know that I definately will need some friendly kicks in the butt to keep going. Hopefully, you guys can help me with that. I'm glad to be hear and I'm looking forward to making some new friends along with reconnecting with my former slimmer, healthier self.
    ~Kathy~

    Re: Hey! I'm new

    HI there Kat! Welcome.

Your story sounds so familiar! Been too close to my fridge while I was home with babies and toddlers myself. ......learning to reward myself for being a good Mum and doing hard days with treats other than food has been a growth process for me.................... Now I buy seedlings and pot up cheerful pots of colour for my patio and windowsills.
I'm an Aussie, second time around with Atkins and I'm here because it DOES work. The best part is that you can be in the house with chocolate once you are past the addiction stage and well into induction. I serve up ice cream for my kids occasionally without licking the spoon or even missing it. I might then have a couple of strawberries instead!

I know this plan works as I lost 14kg and 2 dress sizes about 7 years ago doing Atkins. Now that I have reverted to blimp status I need to lose about 20kg but am feeling good and well on my way.

Hope you have good losses and stick to it!

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
