  • I'm new! Hi!

    Hi!
I have been reading this forum for a long time now! And have been inspired by the success stories and before and after pictures.
So finally decided to join in.
I started "modified" Atkins as I call it (I do about 30-40 carbs for now), in September and so far scale wise did not loose much , but went down almost a size. I have quite a few questions so hopefully you guys will be able to help me. Thanks!

Welcome to the board! Glad you decided to join us! Have you read the book? Your modified obviously is working for you in inches if not weight wise, keep up the good work!

Welcome aboard. Glad to have you. I agree with Atkid, start with Induction as it is good for more than just weight loss. It helps us knock out those cravings. It gets us into ketosis and its the best way to start off. Then start up the OWL ladder by adding veggies, etc. Its a great plan and it works.

        Re: I'm new! Hi!

I bought one of Dr. Atkins books (it has meal plans and recipes in it), but I'm getting the feeling I got the wrong one to begin with. I also have purchased a few books on low carbing by other authors, so far my favorite is by Fran McCullah "Living Low Carb", she gives a lot of tips in the beginning of the book.

Desertthorn, you are right, I do need to go the Induction to boost the weight loss. But honestly even at 30-40 carbs I feel like I am in ketosis. The cravings are not bad actually, it's the planning and the cooking that's bugging me ...

Try Fran's cookbooks, they are awesome.
And yes, be very careful of any recipes in Dr Atkins books, there are many of them that absolutely are not induction friendly. We generally recommend his Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution, published in 2002 as the best. The others are all suspect. LOL

This forum rocks! I've been writing here for one day, and already feel even more inspired, decided to go on a clean induction for at least 2 weeks, we'll see what happens. (Although deep inside me I know it will work, it’s just the carb addict in me is holding me back).

              Thank you guys!

                  Re: I'm new! Hi!

Ok, day 3 of "clean" induction, don't feel any changes yet, no weight changes either...a little discouraging , but I'm hanging in there. (I honestly think that I was in ketosys before, that's why now that I went down to "20 carbs a day" I don't feel any changes yet)...IMHO...
I was proud of my self, a co-worked asked to join her for lunch, at Taco Bell , I ordered a soft taco and a gordita, just ate the stuff that was inside and threw the rest out

                    Good for you, Ksuishka
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
