    Hi! I just started Atkins about 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow is day 14 of Induction although I'm planning on staying on it as long as it takes to real my goal weight. It's nice to have a forum to come to where everyone is going through the same thing. I look forward to posting with everyone!

    Weight at start: 190
    Current weight: 171
    Goal weight: 160

    Activity
    Cardio: 45min-1hr. 6 days/week
    Weights: 4 days/week

      Hi, Welcome. We're glad to have you join us. Congratulations on making it through the first two weeks. I'm glad you've finding induction favorable, however the program would be more beneficial if you eventually go on to OWL and then follow through with pre-maintenance and life-time maintenance.

      The reason is so that you can introduce other foods into your way of life gradually and see how your system reacts to them and be able to maintain your goal weight. Dr. Atkins suggests that we learn how our bodies react to a variety of foods so that we can be prepared to make life-time choices and maintain permanent weight management. The ADBB is a great support group to learn, share and motivate each other as we get healthy together and lose weight.

                Hi Tinyturtles! First, welcome to the board, I'm glad you've found us. Also, I agree with desertthorn on the OWL issue. You only have 20 pounds to lose now and moving up the rungs will actually help you lose weight. Please consider moving up to Rung 1, the veggie rung. It's about one more cup of veggie than you're already eating! You can always go back to induction, but in the long run, it's better to start introducing food variety back into your eating habits.

                Do a little reading in the first few posts that fully explain this, I hope it helps!
