Hi everybody. My name is Sherry, and I have only been on Atkins for 4 days now. I am committed to this new way of eating and hope it is my final diet to help me reach my goals of weight loss. I stumbled onto this message board while surfing the Web about Atkins.
When I say final diet, it is because I have tried everything under the sun to try and lose weight. I was always skeptical about Atkins, which is why I’ve never tried it before, but I know too many people that have lost weight doing so, and without going hungry.
I’ll start from the beginning…In high school, I was around 160-190 lbs., wearing sizes 14-16. Never really the smallest one, but it didn’t faze me because I’m tall. I got pregnant with my first daughter when I was 17 in 1995, gave birth at 18 years old, weighing around 275 lbs. After she was born I dropped maybe around 40-50 lbs.
Within one year of having my daughter, I did the starvation diet for months and went from a size 28 to an 18, in four months. Being 5 foot 10, an 18 looked good on me. Well as you’d know it, I gained the weight back, plus some. By the time I got pregnant with my twins in 2000 I weighed about 250. When I gave birth to my twins, I weighed about 325 lbs.
Which brings me to current times. Almost 3 months ago, my husband and I had our 4th child (and final child.) I weighed about 360 lbs at birth, and currently weigh 332 lbs. (I know exactly because I finally went and bought a scale.)
I’ve read some of the posts on this board and you all seem very friendly to one another. I hope to find some support on here and will take any comments and criticism seriously. I chose to do this because I know I need to lose weight and I can’t do it alone anymore.
