  • New & needing.

Hi Everyone. I have browsed through this board years ago and that's really all I did. Here I am again and I truly could use some support. I really don't know how to begin. I do know that if I don't get this weight off I won't be here too long. Since no one knows who I am here I feel like I can share a little more easily. I am afraid of myself. Afraid to fail again. I'm not looking for anyones sympathy. I just need guidance and support. I hear good and bad stories about every diet. Is there anyone here willing to help me along? Thanks.

    whittle,

Welcome to ADBB! You want support and guidance, you've come to the right place. We follow the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short) 2002 edition. The first step is reading that book. It's a real eye opener. Dr. Atkins himself will tell you the how's and why's of his plan. He will tell you why on every other plan you've been on has not worked. He will tell you why his plan will work. It's worked for so many of us. It has changed MY life.

This board has all the basics of how to do the plan, but understanding why it works will give you the strength to stick to it in the beginning. After the first two weeks, it's pretty much smooth sailing from then on out....with the support of this forum.

Yep, it's me. I've actually lost a little more weight since I took this picture.

I can honestly say that this "diet" has changed my life for the better, and not just because of weight loss. Sure, that's why I started out...but I've gotten so much more benefit than just that.

        My daily heartburn is GONE
        My daily headache is GONE
My sinus infections have significantly diminished
        My back pain is GONE
        My Irritable bowel is GONE
My cholesterol has dropped significantly (and it really wasn't bad to begin with)
My blood glucose has dropped (and it wasn't bad to begin with either)
My blood pressure has dropped (and it wasn't bad to begin with either)
Except for that TOM my attitude has drastically improved (not as irritable or short tempered)

Dr. A has improved my life in so many ways.

Hiya Whittle... welcome to ADBB! This is a great place for inspiration, advice and support... and you'll probably make a few friends too!

First and foremost, do, do, do get hold of a copy of DANDR 2002 edition. It'll answer all your questions about how this way of eating works.

We've all been at the starting point, and so very many of us are now at goal weight. You can be too... all it takes is the decision to commit yourself to this new and healthy (and it is healthy) lifestyle. The longer you eat this way, the easier it becomes. Take it from someone who never thought it could be so.

Look forward to seeing you around the board!

              Re: New & needing.

Let me tell you from someone who has tried and failed many many times. Everyone tries and fails at something, the thing is to just pick yourself right back up and keep going (but always with more wisdom). I don't really see failure as something to be afraid of, each time I slip up I recommit and move forward.
The world will keep turning even if you fail but as I've found out you really have to stick with it or next year at this time you'll be exactly where you are now only more miserable, that's where I am now. Also, this is an excellent place to come for support, I have been on and off this board many times and I'm always welcomed back with open arms.

I hope that made sense...it seems to ramble.

                  Re: New & needing.

Hello. Support is what we do best here! You have received very good advice....read the book, do the program as Dr. Atkins suggested.

Make friends here to share your journey. Thats why this isn't a diet. It is a life-style. Having others who care about you and understand the fight of weight loss has been the most essential thing for me in losing weight.

On other diets I did, I did them alone. I felt miserable and lonely and deprived. Not with the ADBB members...it makes a big difference knowing that others share my thoughts, actions, WOE and understand what I am going through. Together we will all make it happen. Welcome to the board...I look forward to reading about your success.

Hi, I'm new here too. It's a bit nerve testing isn't it to write that first email? But, I have been looking at this BB for a week now and have been so excited about finding a place that we can safely talk about our issues. Good luck to you!

I am afraid of myself. Afraid to fail again.
Your going to find out when you read the book that it wasn't you that failed, it was the diets. Once you understand that, you will feel better about yourself and lose that fear.
This is the easiest plan in the world. We eat food that tastes delicious, we get bacon and cheese back in our diets, we find an exercise that we absolutely love to do, and we watch ourselves melting away
Take your measurement, and don't use the scale as your only criteria
Learn to read labels, Today I was looking for sausage and OMG they all had Corn Surup in them, and I thought sausage was fine.
Check out fitday.com Its a great way to see how many carbs your eating.
                        And post and visit often.

Hi. My name is Glo and I too desperately need to lose weight for health reasons. My big problem is that I just can not stay with it. I lose hope if I do not see instant results. I need constant support. I would love to hear from you.
