Hello!
I've been looking for a while for a forum like this so I'm very happy to have found you. It's so great to find a place where people have been successful with Atkins, because, whilst I know it is working for me, lots of people I tell are very 'anti-atkins'.
I started Atkins on 09.09.06 and have been going well since then (except a two week on/off period which taught me a lot). I was 210 pounds, now down to 192 which I am just so pleased with
. I've been following the New Diet Rev. version. I have stayed on induction because of the hiccup and also because I am scared of slowing down at this point. I'm planning to go into OWL when I hit 182. Exercisewise I do weights, running and football (but I guess you guys would call it 'soccer'? - I'm in the UK).
I don't yet have a goal weight as I'm really not sure what would be right, I think I'll know when I get there, but that makes planning harder. If anyone has any advice or could direct me to some useful resources that would be great. I'm 5'7 and quite broad.
As a bit of background I am 24 and have been around the same 210 weight since I was 18 and diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've lost and gained weight various times but when my meds where cut this year absolutely nothing was working and the Dr just told me to 'try harder'. This was very frustrating because I was eating v low fat, high fiber, etc and running every other day. So I decided to try Atkins and hang the health consequences, frankly. But now I have learned that it seems to make you healthier - I'm still finding it hard to believe but I do feel good.
I look forward to enjoying this board.
