Hi there, today i will be starting the atkins diet for the first time.I am a mother of 2 beautiful girls a 6yrs old and a 6 month old .I was on the south beach diet and was not losing weight so i want to try this. Now,am i only supposed to be having 3 cups of veggies per day? and also if my mayonnaise says 0 carbs but it list sugar in the ingredients does this mean there are hidden carbs.I would like to do this the right way so any advice will be greatly appreciated

Hi Sweet! Welcome to the board! Have you been reading the 2002 edition of DANDR? I believe the book is a must! there is also tons of information right here on the board, you may want to start in the "Induction Forum".

Re the mayo: Yes there is sugar listed as an ingredient, and yes it has no carbs. Using is would be a choice. Personally, I did not use mayo at all during induction, and even well into my weight loss. When you read around the board, people do use it and have no ill effects from it.

Hey girl, welcome...I have used mayo and not found it to cause effects. The book is awesome, it really explains the big picture and all the details...It's a must, an absolute must...it will explain in great detail why it works and what makes it specifically work...My body responds to all of it!
Keep us posted on how you are doing...

Welcome, sweet. Yes, 3 cups of veggies at first, but there's so much more to it! I know we sound like a broken record but.... get that book!

I was addicted to mayo during induction, Silly. And admit I'm still pretty fond of it. Love a little on a piece of balogna rolled up. Yum!

Yup there are no sugar free mayo's here that I have ever seen. I've always eaten it without issue as everyone else has mentioned.

and as jess mentioned definately invest in the book, you'll be glad you did!

I Sweet, love your pic and the giraffe. Mayo is a real staple in our home to. I use it in tuna, egg, chicken salads. Glad your reading labels as thats the best way not to be surprized. Today I was looking at a can of Hunts Pasta Ready Primavera sauce that I have had in my cubboard for a long time, but only today did I notice that it had high fructose corn syrum as the 3rd ingredient. OMG
