  • New to board

    Hi Everyone !
I'm new to this board but not to Atkins ... I used the program many years ago with great success. I'm hoping to have even more success with it this time around. The first time that I used the program it didn't have the induction phase, so this part is new to me. I don't have a copy of the book at this point, so I am hoping that I will have all the information available here ...
Looking forward to starting today !

    Re: New to board

Hello Oran and welcome! You've come to the right place... yes you will certainly get lots of information, tips, support and inspiration here at ADBB.

Having said that, I do urge you to get hold of a copy of DANDR 2002 edition, which is the one the board goes by. There's nothing like a thorough understanding of how and why this way of eating works to help you reach goal smoothly.

The induction phase is a very important part of the program as it allows your body to convert to a fat burning metabolism... rather than carb burning. In induction you should find that your appetite decreases a lot too, which is a wonderful bonus.

Here's to your very successful losing!
    Before and after:

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.

        Welcome to the board Orann!

You can start by checking out the stickies in this forum:

It should give you enough to get started. I'd definitely tell you to ge the book though as it'll help you understand why you are doing what you're doing and the rules of each stage.

Best of luck, and if you need anything we're all here for ya!

          Re: New to board

Glad to see another new face here, Orann. Am always delighted to see the transformation that people undergo during the weightloss journey from newbie to seasoned Atkineer.

You might do well to check a local thrift store or paperback trading outlet. I got 2 copies of DANDR for 50 cents each at Goodwill, and left several other Atkins' books on the shelves.

                  Re: New to board

I found the books on Amazon - but does anyone know if there are any real differences between the book published in 2002 and the revised version of 2003 ?
I noticed that the forum uses the 2002 version and I am curious ... plan to order today and get it here asap !
                  Thanks

                      Re: New to board

The 2002 edition was the last one written entirely by Dr. A himself...so, we here at ADBB think this one is by far the best.
