  • Hiya

    Hello all,

I've tried the Atkins diet numerous times but never with much commitment or belief that it would work. This time I've done all the necesary reading and am 100% ready to tackle this weight-loss beast.

I finished my first day of induction and it went quite well. There was only one moment when I envisioned myself dashing out to the nearest shop to buy and then stuff my face with chocolate! Didn't do it though and Kudos to me if I do say so myself.

I have 53lbs to lose - it crept stealthily onto me over the last couple of years. I hadn't realised how big I'd gotten until I saw a terrifying picture of myself and on the same day my mother asked me why I was breathing so hard on the phone. Sheer embarrassment had me lying that I had run to catch the phone and that ladies and gents, was the turning point.

Looking forward to controlling what I eat (rather than having it control me) and getting fit. I've re-activated my gym membership and shall start going from Mon.

That's my story for now. Thanks for taking the time to read.

    Hi Fi

Those moments of clarity are pretty fab - I know thats what finally got me onto the Atkins WOL!

Breathe your way through the first few days - everytime you get a craving drink a huge glass of water - if you're craving something sweet, have something really salty or vinegary (the mind works in weird ways! It works for me!) and by the time you hit day 4 or 5, the energy surge will have started to kick in, you'll feel like your on top of the world and most importantly of all KEEP POSTING ON ADBB - we all know where you are coming from!!

    Good luck on day 2!!

Hi Soullove and welcome to the ADBB!

Isn't it true that pictures can be a horrid shock! Videos are even worse, as I know from personal experience!

Good that you are going to start up at the gym; exercise is a fundamental part of the Atkins programme. Other fundamentals are: Water... gallons of the stuff; DANDR 2002 edition...which is the one the board goes by and the last one written entirely by Dr A himself; low carb... 20g or under in induction.

Ask any questions you might have and generally make yourself at home.

      Happy losing!

Why dont you sign up to the six week exercise challenge since you've re-joined at the gym - its really good - motivates you! I've lost inches all over doing it!!

good luck with your induction, I cant wait to hear how you've done
