  • I'm going to try again.

I tried once during the summer. I was doing well, but had a SERIOUS sugar/carb attack. I even felt sick, was that the FLU? I even had my sticks purple. I've decided to try again on 11.24.06. I'm going to try hard for the 14 days. I'm also going to try not to have any diet soda or splenda. The only problem I have with Atkins is the amt of veggies. I feel really limited. I'm a big fan of veggies...but the veggies didn't get my *** fat. I was doing great on Weight Watchers, but you're allowed anything as long as you're in your point range, so I took advantage of that, I would allow candy, beer, cookies, etc. Thank you for reading ans wish me luck.

read your DANDR chapter 14 and start drooling over all the veggies you will get in just 14 days. right now you will have to be content with only 3 cups of the acceptable one.

Well, I'm here to say it! Good luck! If you have sugar/carb attacks, there ARE things you can do about it. There are things you can take, like chromium picolinate, which is not expensive and helps to regulate your body's use of sugar and also helps stop any craving in its tracks. Woohoo! Eating something fatty also helps curb cravings.

As for the not enough veggies, focus more on more substantial veggies than lettuce, which is mostly water and doesn't give the same "fullness factor" as some other veggies on the salad veggies list. There are a lot of things in there other than just plain old iceburg lettuce! Stretch and try some new things! Take a look at the recipe section of the board, it has some great induction friendly goodies in it.

The flu you had during induction was just that, induction flu. Most people experience a few days of feeling flu'ish, followed by a boost of energy and a great feeling of accomplishment at having gotten through induction.

      Try it, you'll like it!

Any time we make changes in our lives, it takes some getting used to it. Your body will crave the junk food for a few days, (induction flu) but you can do it. Make a plan to succeed by writing out your goals, taking your measurements and working the plan. Exercise will give your mind a boost and make you feel better about yourself. Surround yourself with positive people who are also making it work for them. Becoming active with other members who share your journey is the best way to achieve success and stay motivated. You aren't alone. Drinking lots of water also gives you the feeling of fullness and does wonders for your body. You are worth it, make a committment and do it. You'll be so happy when you make this WOE a life-style and find you are in control of what you eat.

Hi foojoy! We like veggies around here too! Are you having 2 cups of salad veggies and one cup of other veggie daily during induction? After the first 14 days, you will be able to have even more varieties of veggies each day, as long as you don't exceed your carb count and still eat plenty of protein and fats.

Looks good so far! Don't forget to eat 2 cups of "salad" veggies and 1 cup of regular veggie today (and every day for the next 14!).

                Hello and welcome!
I felt like you at first... lost without my masses of veggies...but be patient, once you make the move to OWL all that changes! And you can move in just two weeks, if you want to!
As for induction flu (which is probably what you had)... that too shall pass!
