    hi!

i am 21 and new here, and gained 33 pounds in 3 months during nervous breakdown and emotional crisis etc
and i finaly decided to quit self destruction so i am on Atkins 3 days, ...
    i am 1,68 m, /5'6'' /and 82 kg /180 pounds- so, i have around 55 pounds to lose...

and i have one desperate question

In 36 days (you guess New Year's Eve) -with 3 hours walking, 1 hour fitness... and really strict Atkins (36 days of induction ) how much pounds is likely i am going to lose? Minimum?

(Before this 3 hours walking and fitness i didn't do any workouts and eat compulsivly for 3 months )

(i am not interested in anwsers about how strict diet for 36 days isn't healthy, cause i am gonna do it anyway, i don't think it is so unhealthy for young and healthy body (i have good condition and muscluature despite low physical activity last few months )

    Thanks Pleaseee answer

sorry for my messed up english

Hi European Girl! Welcome to ADBB! Glad you found us, and sorry to hear about your emotional crisis. Am so glad that you've decided to reverse the direction!

It's very hard to say how much you'll lose in a set time. We're all so very different and there are many factors that affect weight loss. You will probably lose around 10% of your total "weight to lose" during the two week induction if you do it to the letter without cheats or mistakes. This should give you a pointer... well, maybe...

Try to think of Atkins as a change in your way of eating, for life. You'll reap the rewards in energy and better health. If you go back to your old way of eating, after you've reached your goal, you'll put the weight back on in no time at all... and some. After a while of eating low carb, it becomes natural and much much easier... take it from someone who didn't believe it at first and then had to re-think!

Remember to drink masses of water. Remember to add some exercise to the equation. Oh and do, do, do, get a copy of DANDR (2002 edition). Understanding how the diet works if fundamental!

    Happy losing!

Hi European girl! Welcome to the board.

Everyone is different in terms of weight loss. Sounds like your plan is a good one. I hear that you will stay on induction for 36 days. You might want to bump up to rung 1 after 2 weeks of clean induction. That's just 5 carbs of extra vegetable. Yes you're young and healthy so veggies won't hurt. That will offer you more choices so that you don't get bored with your eating!

Hi. Welcome! Sally gave you great advice, if you stick to the program, do exercises, drink water and commit to the new way of life, you'll do great. Everyone loses different amounts, but the good news is that it will happen. Make sure you take your measurements as well as recording the pounds as it is very motivation to see the inches melting off. Keep us posted. I'm sure you'll look and feel great about your progress by New Years.

I urge you to get the book. To do this properly, you have to have an induction period of 14 days. If you are asking how many carbs you can have, I'm not certain that you understand this? The answer is 20 carbs for the 2 first weeks. You should be eating 2 cups of salad veggies and 1 cup of other veggie in addition to the proteins/fats you will be consuming. I hope that helps!

Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
                he said, 'Don't count calories.'
