    Hello fellow atkins followers. I just started induction 3 days ago and dropped 6 1/2 pounds (water weight I'm sure, but it still makes me feel good). It is really nice to be able to get support for the diet somewhere. It seems lately there are more and more negative people who have nothing good to say about atkins. You know what I think, though? I think the people who are negative tried atkins and failed themselves, so now they just want to bring the diet down. If the diet is bad, then they didn't fail.

    I am not new to atkins. This is my second road trip. I had a baby 4 months ago, and so far I've lost 33lbs. I hit a plateau and got depressed. I was afraid to go back to atkins because I had been eating very little and am afraid to gain weight. I'm glad I went back on it now.

    Today I think I messed up. I had a bacon and cheese omlette. When I looked at the bacon it said 0 carbs, but then (after I ate it) I looked at the ingredients and saw it was cured with sugar.

    Oh, and I've read the Atkins Revolution twice. What an inspirational tool.

    I think the people that bad mouth it just have not read the book or tried it, or just don't want to diet.

    I use to be one of those.

    I don't think eating the cured bacon once will hurt you. I too have unopened packages cured bacon and ham in my refrigerator that I am scared to eat. I ate a little but the scales were not happy so I guess I will wait and have after I reach my goal if it does not expire by then. I have thrown out all the opened packages.

      Take a look at Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition (Completely revised from prior version same name). Baco & cheese omelette is OK - just include the net carbs in your count for the day and get your veggies in. More details in the 'sticky' posts of the Induction phase forum!

        The 02 Revolution is the only copy I have. I love it.

        The bacon said 0 carbs but was cured in salt and sugar. I have read that even if it says 0 carbs and sugar is an ingridient it affects your diet.

        I lost 27 lbs by just not eating at all, but that only worked for a short while. The remaining 6.5lbs by atkins.

        Susan, you look great! How long have you been doing atkins?

                Hi gsfox - come and join the Memorial Day Challenge. That would be a perfect time frame for you to lose the rest of your weight and do it with some of the others from the board. Just look under the Challenges!
