    Hello!

I have always believed that Atkins is the best way of life for me. I started Atkins about 4 years ago to help take off my freshman fifteen - and it worked. I did fine for about a year until I was given medicine to treat an illness, and the side affect was gaining about oh --- fifty or sixty pounds. I have been off the medication for about a year now and the weight has not come off on its own so I am going to start Induction and follow this. My five year anniversary is on January 1st and I would love to do something that makes me feel good about myself.

I love to work hard, and tend to become compulsive when I set my mind on something. Hopefully, I can focus that drive onto my physical fitness as well.

I was extremely active in high school (lettered in 3 sports) and in college I continued that level of activity.

I have returned to college last semester to persue an undergraduate degree in something that I enjoy very much.

I have had many eye opening experiences over the last two years since my weight gain, and I want to use each one as motivation to get healthy.

My greatest weakness is the fact that I tend to go "all out" for something for a few months and then become jaded and never follow through. With the amount of weight that I have to lose I MUST follow through with this way of life.

Today is the first day of this journey, and I hope I can look back in a year and be proud of my hard work. I don't want to look back in a year and be the same weight that I am now AND regret now following through...AGAIN.

Loved reading everything you have written. I tend to be really obsessive about things, get really gung ho, and then lose interest...so you sound a little like me! For me, I've learned that its best to take this one day at a time, and keep an attitude that isn't "all or nothing" - because for people who obsess and get gung ho, that first time you slip up can be disaster! Glad you're here, and look forward to hearing more about your journey into this way of life!

Hello and welcome. You've come to the best place possible for good low carb advice, recipes, support and general inspiration.
        Remember:
Low carb (20g or under in induction)
Exercise (as much as you can, gently increasing)
Water (masses and masses of it)
        Book (DANDR 2002 edition)

Why not check out the Second Time Around Club. Lots of support to be had there from those who've strayed and returned!
        Happy low carbing!
