  • Greetings, All!

Hello! I've finally become a member! I found this board out of desperation - I knew I had to do something to take back control of my life, and for me that meant getting off these extra pounds! I'm a professional mom to a DD 7 and DS 4 and they deserve a happy mommy!

I have never had a weight problem...and was always pretty active...but this past year has been difficult...I started to eat to feel better. Packed on 30 pounds!! On my 5'3" frame, that is a lot of weight.

I am on my 6th day of induction - and I had one, only one slip up where I had pizza and beer for dinner two nights ago - but I have been sticking to the plan and power-walking at lunch time.

This board has provided so much insight and help already! I hope to have a whoosh moment next Friday when I weigh-in, but I think TOM is coming just in time for the holidays and I won't see a great result YET. I'm optimistic and I am going to try, really try to break my old habits.

Thanks for taking the time to read about me! I can't wait to get to know you!

    Re: Greetings, All!

Hi PinkRibbon... welcome to ADBB! Glad to hear you've decided to take the bull by the horns. Good to hear also, that you're doing some exercise which is fundamental to any weight loss plan.
A tip: Do take your measurements. I never did at the beginning and regretted it so much. There are times when we can drop clothes sizes yet the scale remains the same. If your exercise is a new thing, you could be exchanging fat for muscle, which weighs heavier.
Feel free to ask any questions you might have. We're rooting for you and here to help. THere are also lots of stickies to read about the correct way to do Atkins.

Have you got a copy of DANDR 2002 edition? Understanding the science behind this way of eating is a tremendous help.
Good luck! You'll do great, I'm sure... and soon you'll turn into that happy Mom that your kids deserve (though I'm sure you're actually already that!)

Hi Pinkribbon. Welcome to the BB. I totally agree with you that if we are happier with ourselves, we are better moms. I know this has been the case for me. Do take your measurements so you can be awed with the inches you drop as well as weight you lose. Also, take the time to make a plan for times when you are tempted with foods that trigger you to go off plan. If you have solutions to keep you from falling, it will be easier to say "no" and feel good about it. Best wishes....I look forward to hearing about your success!
