  • Help! Need Will Power

    Hi everybody,

This is my first time using the bulletin. This will be my second time on adkins. The first time I lost 38 pds in 2 months. I am really excited, in need of support and will power. I am 5'3 1/2 and weigh 189. I had a baby 6 months ago. I plan to start adkins 1/1/07. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I have been reading some of the posts, trying to get myself motivated once again. I have enjoyed reading the bulletin, recipes etc.

The best advice i can give you is to make this a way of life, not a diet! Keep your eye on the final goal and it will keep you strong. Welcome IP77!! Glad to have you join us. I agree that if you set your mind that this is a WAY OF LIFE...instead of a diet...you've won half the battle. Another thing that helped me was to organize a plan to incorporate Atkins program. Have you read the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution edition 2002? It is a great motivator with lots of advice and all the hows/whys of the program.

You'll find so much inspiration and encouragement here in the forums. We have challenges, journals, health/life issues, before/after photos and stories and much more to help keep you motivated and help make it happen. Best wishes and keep us posted!!

Hey LP, you don't need willpower to do this, you just need to follow the plan and the rest will come effortlessly! Welcome to the board!

          Re: Help! Need Will Power

Hi there! I'm new to the board too - I can't even figure out how to set up my stats and signature but will work on it this weekend. I'm not new to Atkins, I lost 70 lbs five years ago and basically made it a way of life. In the last year I increased my carb intake with whole grains and fruits (and Atkins bars), still avoiding sugar, flour and starches and have gained 20 lbs back gradually over the last year and a half.

So, I'm back on the original plan because I know it works! I've been on EVERY diet at some point in my life and this plan is so liveable and successful. 'Sillygirl' is right - it doesn't take willpower because you can eat ALOT of food. Your success will keep you on track and if you understand the chemistry of it - you will avoid cheating at all costs! Good luck to you! I'm rooting for you!
