I, too, had a lot of sadness (my daughter died a horrible lingering death at the age of 31) and my health problems became much worse and I let myself gain a ton of weight. What I finally realized was that nothing was any better by giving up and letting the pounds pile on. Nothing I was doing would bring back my child and the pounds were making my incurable condition worse. I have now lost 114 pounds in a little over a year and feel sooo much better--about everything. Any time I feel like giving in to the carb monsters, I ask myself what, if anything, would be better after I eat carb crap. The answer is always 'nothing' and it gets me past the rough times. I spent a year mostly in bed and didn't dress but once in a while and had no idea just how much I had gained. My big blammo moment came when I went to a funeral in another state and took the clothes I wore to my daughter's funeral just 12 months before. I couldn't wear anything--not even my slip--couldn't even get the black suit on my body! I had to go out and buy new clothes. I knew it was time to do something about it--and I did. My pity party had gone on long enough. One of my favorite quotes is: "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." I made up my mind to be happy and it has worked.

Welcome Emma and join right in, don't forget to read the book. I lost mine and had to buy another. I landed up regaining all the weight I lost plus some over the past two years. So now I am back on track. Best wishes to you and lets hope 2007 brings better days for you.........Dawn
