  • Day 1, again

Here we go again. Back to the only plan that works for me in terms of weight loss. Highest weight was 330. Current is 298.4. In 2004 I did Induction after hitting 330 and I lost rapidly. Got down to 270's and then drove off the road. Thanks to the rapid weight loss I had to have gallbladder surgery in October of 2004; we moved across the country a month later; and I got pregnant just a few months after that. I've been desperately trying to get back on track like I was in mid-04. I'm finally ready to do this no matter what life throws at me.

I've got IR, PCOS, high BP, and NIDDM. I'm 31, I am married, have 2 kids, I'm a SAHM and I homeschool. Today is day 1 of a planned extended induction. My goal is to get under 200 by next New Year's so I can have another baby - but I want this even if no other babies are in our cards. I am so glad I found this board. I need this to work this year. No more excuses. Only results.

Welcome Melissa! You can do this and everyone here is behind you! This is the most supportive group of people I think you are going to find. I come here everyday to get information, recipes, success stories, exercise challenges, and of course the great before and after photos! My only advice is to always think ahead as far as meal plans, always taking an Atkins friendly snack with you when you go out, drink plenty of water and exercise. (anything to start! - I only did 10 situps a day to start, now I'm up to a whopping 30!! Ha Ha!)

        Re: Day 1, again

Hi Melissa - A good idea for the next 2 weeks is to stick Atkins friendly salads (egg salad, chicken, tuna, etc.) and other little treats (cheese, pepperoni, cucumbers) in the fridge so they are there when you open the door. You sound SOOO busy that this should help in any situation where you find yourself thinking - I need to eat but don't have time. The habit will follow - as you know from before! Good luck - we are all supporting you!

            Re: Day 1, again

Thank you everyone for the warm welcomes and great advice. I ate a TON of food yesterday. It seemed I was hungry all day, plus my blood sugar crashed mid-afternoon which is normal for me going into low-carb w/ the diabetes. I stuck to it and had cheese instead of starch or sugar to bring my sugar up a bit. I weighed in this morning a few hours earlier than I did yesterday (DH gets to go back to work today from a vacation last week and we get up before 7 to take him to the bus - yesterday I slept in and weighed after 9am) - but still, the scale was 1 pound less than yesterday so I was very happy! I need to go pick up a copy of DANDR, I can't seem to find it in my book collection. I want my first 2 weeks to be as clean as possible.

I'm so glad I'm here! This is going to be a great year!!!

                Re: Day 1, again

Had an emotional upheaval last night and I didn't cheat! It was so hard with it only being day 2!! My Mom is getting married this year and the plan was October. Well, she called me last night to say that they were getting married this Friday instead! We definitely can't get out to California from Georgia by then, so we're going to miss it. I was completely unglued for a few hours.
But, I'm very proud of myself! If I can get through that and not cheat, I can get through anything!!

Whaaaaat? From October to this Friday!?!? I don't blame you for coming unglued. It's great your eating stayed on track though! Each time you pass a hurdle like that, it gets easier and easier.
