  • Im New, my introduction

    Hello to all,
I was suppose to start day one today of induction, but of course I failed. I think it was doomed when I didnt eat breakfast until after noon. Anyway, I am 33, I have one child, work FT and homeschool. Yes, its tough, but I do it. I gonna start over tomorrow. I dont know how much I weigh, just afraid to know I guess. I do know that its over 360 and under 400. I have no energy and Im simply tired all the time. My friend seems to think Im depressed, but I beg to differ. He says Im in denial but again, I beg to differ. I do know that I have to do something and Im glad I have found this board. I would love to have a weight loss buddy if someone has a lot to lose.

Hello takupurcross! You have found a wonderful place. I think everyone here will be your buddy if you need one! I think we all have felt exactly what you are feeling, I know I have. However looking back, I was depressed and in denial. One day I just knew that I could not go on acting like it was O.K. to eat the way I was eating which was causing me to feel and look awful. Everyone has to be ready (in their own way) to make this a Way Of Life rather than a diet. I think if you know you are ready, then jump in! Keep trying until you do make it a whole day. When I started this I told myself it was just for one day. I couldn't make myself think too far in advance. Now I am signed up for a Memorial Day Challenge! I never want to go back to the way I was just a few short weeks ago.

You can do this, just one day at a time, and I think you will be amazed at how much energy you will have, how much happier you will be!

Do you have the 2002 edition of the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? That is the edition they go by here. It is a wonderful resource. This site is my second resource. There are amazing recipes, success stories and support here! My third is Linda's Low Carb Recipes - It is filled with delicious and easy recipes - items with an * are induction friendly. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html

    YOU CAN DO IT!!

With that mindset, I'm not the least surprised. You get what you expect to get! Don't mind me--I'm the Queen of Positive Thinking! Below is one of my favorite quotes--it serves me well. It takes a bit of work to turn your thinking around, but it works wonders. This has helped me take off 114 pounds in a year.

Positive self-talk WORKS! Sadly, so does negative self-talk.
"Whether you believe you can do something or you believe you can't, you're right."

By the way--being in denial about depression is okay. I've used the "fake it until you make it" way to pull myself out of a very bad depression, many times in my life. I never did find it helpful to wallow in depression or have extended pity parties. Sometimes all I could do was fake a smile until it became real. Even if you are depressed, it won't help you get a postive mind-set that you need to get off those unhealthy pounds to dwell on the negative. It sounds like you have many things to be positive about in your life. Your child is a blessing and working full-time and homeschooling is very commendable. Think how much easier it will all be when the pounds come off and you have the burst of energy that comes with clean, healthy, low carb eating.

              Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

"Some men give up their designs when they have almost reached the goal; While others, on the contrary, obtain a victory by exerting, at the last moment, more vigorous efforts than ever before."

Great Post Sunnysmile! - I love positve thinking! It is so true that it works! I always think that if I do not belive in myself, why should anyone else? I can do this and I am going to do this!

                Happy New Year!
