  • Hi.

HI everyone. I am new to Atkins. THis is my third day and I still feel kind of crappy. Is that normal? One good thing though, I am definitly not hungry, which is a great thing.
I have previously been on Weight Watchers forever and have always been able to lose weight when I stick to it, but since i have hit 40 (I am 41) it has not been so easy to lose.
I only (ha) need to lose 30 pounds and I am really hopeful and confident that this will be the way to do it. My husband it also doing it so that makes it easier. THe HARD part is that I have 4 kids and i have to make them lunch (on bread!) and add some carbs to whatever I am cooking for dinnner. I know its all a mind game...I guess it will take a few more days....I wish I had more energy but from what I have read it is coming soon! ANy words of encouragement???????

    Re: Hi.

Hi, swimr4, and welcome to ADBB. Keep the faith! The first few days of induction can be bumpy, especially if you are new to it. Have you been reading the book? Reading the forum "sticky" posts?

Make the smoothest passage into induction by drinking lots of water, eating from unlimited daily foods when you are hungry, and don't skimp on the allowed amounts of various veggies. You want to deprive your body only of carbs and certain problem substances, not nutrients.

If you post your menu, we will be able to check it for any problem spots, as well. You should feel better soon.

    Good luck!

        Re: Hi.

You can do it! It does get easier - the longer you go without them, the less appetizing they are. Soon you will not want them, in fact you will be craving veggies! YUM!! If it helps just think of them as the enemy! The make you feel like crap (Even leaving your body!) Once they are out of your system you will have an amazing burst of energy and motivation.

        You can do it!

Thanks so much everyone for all your support. I just had a great salad for lunch full of eggs and bacon so I am set for the rest of the afternoon. I just got a new camera so maybe when i have some time to figure it out I will post some pics of me.

                Re: Hi.

Welcome Swimr! Glad you've joined us!
You'll find Atkins gets easier as you go along... especially cooking regular meals for other family members. After a while you won't crave what you serve them at all.
Focus on the wonderful things you can eat and in the beginning, try to close your mind to the carby things. Soon, you won't even think of them any more.
That your husband is doing Atkins with you is really nice. It makes it so much easier if you have company and are able to support each other.
                Happy losing!

HI Zen...I have also had bad headaches. I wanted to take Excedrin but it has caffeine so I didn't. I feel a lot better today than yesterday. Thanks for your support...good luck to you too.

Hi Swim, I am on Day 7 and feel great. I didn't start to perk up until late day 4, but I am a second time around person so for us the flu lasts a bit longer sometimes. I have 4 kids as well and I knew that would be a big hurdle to overcome. We had tacos the other night, a staple in our house. My husband fries the tortillas and they are soooo good, but I skipped them. I had a taco salad, all the ingredients except the shell and the beans and I added more cheese and sour cream ( I never let myself use sour cream before) and I added some sliced avocado over chopped lettuce. Yummy! So you can work around it if you can plan ahead. For me planning ahead is the key. Good Luck to you!

The more water you drink the better you will feel, when it comes to induction. Water is the key! Good Luck Ya'll
